Wedding Etiquette

I bought them a gift for their wedding shower, and the wedding is coming up this weekend.

Am I supposed to get them something else for the wedding?

Oh yeah, I'll be in the wedding party.

Hell no. In fact if you're in the wedding you are automatically excluded from buying gifts.

in the wedding party, buy a gift, or do something above and beyond....

and, for gods sake, don't bring a gift to the wedding! have it mailed to the house.

I flew out there at the end of June

Flying out there this weekend

Time off work + flying expense = about $1k total

Oh, and the motherfucker is making me buy my own tux. Cheapass.

The gift to the wedding party is a pair of tennis shoes that we get to wear during the ceremony and reception. fucking colorado rednecks!

That's why I don't give big presents for wedding showers. But to answer your question....yes.

I put my check in the card though. Make sure you make liberal use of the memo line though, just to mess with your friends.

$$ is the worlds universal always welcomed gift.

Willard: When I was home after my first tour, it was worse. I'd wake up and there'd be nothing. I hardly said a word to my wife, until I said "yes" to a divorce. When I was here, I wanted to be there; when I was there, all I could think of was getting back into the jungle.

I think according to Mopars memo on his check to me I must have had buttseks on some other night I owed him for, not to mention getting a check for some random non round number.

Where is the wedding? Flying somewhere isn't always bad, make lemonade from your lemons and turn it into a mini-vacation with your lady. If you have further etiquette questions let me know, I've been to and stood up in plenty of weddings and have this shit on lockdown.

Denver. It's not bad. But the cost of flights are. We are making a mini vacation out of it. A couple days to chill out, concert at Red Rocks, maybe some hiking around the mountains.

You bringing Jess? Cheaper to drive, then, unless you got the tickets already. 1000 miles to Denver, you can do it in one day. If you take the Accord you will fill up three times each way, starting with a full tanks. You don't need to rent a car while there either. It's a boring ass trip, but will save you a couple hundo.

Weddings aren't cheap but the memories are free and last a lifetime, make the most of your time. Also drink as much as humanly possible at the reception, avoid the videographer once you're drunk, do not attempt to hit on the mother's of the bride or groom.

Driving would be about the same amount, approx $360 for fuel. We won't need to rent a car, I will have my brother, sister and mother to borrow cars from or get rides from, remember the family lives there.

Most wedding bars will not pour shots. However if you order 1 oz of booze in a rocks glass with no ice, what's the difference? Have them line up several and get everyone involved. Good times!

At my wedding, they had a special bottle of jager for me.

That was back in the day when I weight 40 more pounds and could handle it.
