Fees Fees Fees!

Ok just got notice from B or A that if I don't maintain a 5K balance they are going to charge me $20 a month service fee?!?! WTF man?

Looking for comments/suggestions from the peanut gallery on what banks work for you...

First the Insurance Co, now banks? Everyone wants to get their hand in the pot... it's rediculous!

meh, i prefer boas online banking system over ANY others. it is superior.

but yes, they do fee the fuck out of you, and thats how they got to where they are. I would consult them about it and see what they say, they can either waive it or move you to a diff account or say goodbye.

Chase does monthly charges unless you sign up for direct deposit with them. Harris is very good. They don't have any charges. Find a credit union, they don't charge either.

I've been using a local bank for checking/savings, but I have had a WAMU credit card for a while, and they have been the best credit card company I have ever been with...I could not be happier with a credit card company (and that's saying something)

I can only imagine their banking services follow the same quality

For basic banking I use North Community Bank as my starting point with basically everything being bounced to my ING Direct accounts and held and/or paid from there. Zero fees and decent interest FTMFW.

it sounds like you didn't fully read the type of account you signed into thats all. to get the higher( if you want to call it that nowadays) intreset bearing account you have to keep a min balance and can only move stuff around certain amount of times thats with any place. also if you want to buy CDs you need to have that type account too. no biggie just get the other type account with the lower intreset if any at all. credit union is also good for lower intreset loans

i want to drink, but only to kill a certain few brain cells and i don't care how many i have to take out to get to them.

I gave up on banks in February. They can all go to hell. I save more, spend less, and I never have any surprises anymore. This society does all it can to get you to never turn your money into cash. If they let you turn it into cash, you're likely going to question why your electric bill is $75 a month and your cable bill is $100.

Bah.

Just use the credit union account for your every day spending and put the rest into an on-line savings account to earn interest. Some good ones are HSBC, ING, WAMU, and Etrade.
