Rent a car options

Does anyone work for or know of anyone who does car rental? I have to travel to Princeton IL on Sunday for a family reunion and want to go to the ren faire on Monday but it seems my car is not going to cooperate.

Parts are ordered, sway bar links, right inside tie rod and back brake assemblies w/hardware but... not in til tomorrow and not being fixed til Thurs. I'm thinking it's not a great idea to take it on 3 hr tours...

Any suggestions or referrals on a rental?

The right way is not always the popular and easy way. Standing for right when it is unpopular is a true test of moral character

Usually Enterprise has good prices. That's who I have always used. If it was the full weekend they have specials unlimited miles but not sure how that would work with Monday.

I'm sick of following my dreams. I'm just going to ask them where they're goin', and hook up with them later!!

For the weekend def. Enterprise. If you are a AAA member you can get more discounts. Make sure your existing car insurance covers rentals, and do not buy their insurance.

Or, if they rent the same car as you own, rent it for one day. Have someone swap all the parts out for you. Return the rental with all the broke parts. I knew someone that did that with a GM that had a $700 not in stock anywhere fuel pump.

If you owned an Audi, you could simply complain about an issue, get a loaner, then drive there. That's what i'd do. Just don't smoke in it.

Ex-branch manager for 6 years here.

CAll them up and ask for a "package special" through monday. Most likely they will give the same special rate for another day.

Don't want to get into an argument, but traveling I would buy the CDW ONLY. That's the insurance on the car only. All the other one's are scams. I've seen SO much crap and people pay me $500 deductibles on a car they'll never see ever again.

Sidestep.com is the best travel site I know. Check there.

I use national bc I have high status w them from business travel. But over xmas I got a way better deal at enterprise-- $16/day for a pontiac G6. Plus, they have way more locations and you won't have to go as far to get to them. DO call before you pick up the car; often their locations are @ dealerships and they can "take the reservation, they just can't HOLD the reservation".

Check the website for coupons, too. If that doesn't work, google "enterprise coupon" and you should probably find something. Oh, and ask the person at the counter- often they will let you have the weekend rate into monday if you just ask

All you have to do is follow three simple rules. One, never under estimate your opponent (mentality). Expect the unexpected (could work out in your favor). Two, take it outside(or to a table). Never start anything inside the Bar unless it's absolutely necessary. And three, be nice.

If you want cheap, Hotwire FTW. Just pick up a POS rental with unlimited miles.

For kicks I looked at Hotwire out of ORD and saw econoboxes through midsized SUVs at $17 a day with unlimited miles. Can't touch that.

There is nothing firm, nothing balanced, nothing durable in all the universe. Nothing remains in its original state, each day, each hour, each moment, there is change. Change is the essence of life. Embrace change as you do life. To fight change is to live in the past.
