my date with my daughter

Mandy was out getting inked, so I had the pleasure of spending the afternoon with our daughter Abi. We hung out in the garage (her faveorite place to play) and she watched me destroy a fuel pump gasket. We were off to MCC, and the service manager Dave was nice enough to install the pump for me. He told Abi she could sit at his desk. She lit up like a Christmas tree, and told him she would "handle things". Abi was playing a game on my iPhone when a customer came in with a wheel. My seven year old looked up from her game and said "Hello mister, your Ducati must be broke. Sorry about that, but we can fix it." After the entire shop picked themselves up off the floor laughing, we were back in the car headed to Resurrections house to drop off the tank and my wheels. Somehow a potty break came up when she saw a 7-11. After a few slurpees, we were off again. I dropped my slurpee getting into the car, and she offered me her drink. What a sweetie. Gus was pleasant as usual, and we headed for home. We picked up McDonalds for dinner, and she changed for bed. As I tucked her in, she told me that was the best daddy/daughter date ever. It is days like today I will remember most when I am walking her down the isle.

13? Oh you sweet misinformed Papa... sadly it will kick in around 4th-5th grade. Usually the moms are the hate target though so you might be off the hook

No worries. When my wife's sister comes over there are 9 little crumsnatchers running around putting hand prints on everything 4 feet from the floor. Usually though it escalates into "let's see who can ride Dani's PW50" and somebody gets hurt. Then they settle down for "movie time".

Man I hope so. That is why we do so much together right now. Hopefully she will remember this so she will be "gentle" to me in her pre-teen psycho years.

haha, nice one.

Mine's 6 and yea, they do say some things that are just too funny.

I took mine to old navy last saturday for their denim sale to buy her some jeans. We picked out a few pairs to go try on, the first one we put on were a little tight. She was doing poses in the fitting room mirror then proclaimed that "these jeans make me look sssexayyy".

god help me

That was an awesome story, truly heartwarming.
Since my daughter (adult) & I aren't speaking right now, it's even more poignant.

Ohhhhh, ok. That makes more sense. I didn't see the original thread.

Nevertheless, it is still f*cking funny that she thought the wheel was from a Duc.

I thought the best one was Abi looking at a ducati 900 and asking if it was Miss Danis bike. I showed her a pic of Danis 888 6 months ago, and she not only remembered her name, but what her bike looked like. Now tell me she should be left behind for the greater good.

The origional thread was deleted because I had to retype it. Damn iPhone/clsb not working. I wonder if Mao has room in the crusher for this phone.

Awwww! Dave and Mandy, you two have such a great daughter! It's totally wonderful that you spend time with her one on one. It's great to do things as a family, but girls need to know that daddy is there for them and loves them. Sounds like you two had a blast. Props for not sitting her in front of the tv while you nap, watch the game, or play XBox

Our little one likes to point out bikes when we're on the road and has even begun to recognize the different makers... we saw a Ducati once and she said, "Yeah, I like Daddy's bike better!" I had to hold back from laughing and the guy at Panera just gave me a puzzled look. Girls!!!

The real art of conversation is not only to say the right thing at the right time, but also to leave unsaid the wrong thing at the tempting moment.
