They always reopen!

Back in 88 it was real cool because the Thirsty Whale sign was flooded up to Musclehead.

they needed the water to clean all the greese off the floor.

They used to just throw salt on the floor so the people wouldn't fall on the grease and oil back there...

great dog and fries though

Oh cmon old man, I didn't really do it but I've seen people do it so I posted it for humor.

BUT! I do like ketchup on my hot dog, actually I like everything on my hot dog Chicago style. Fookin salad in a bun! Why? I'm from Chicago that's why.

Found that out the hard way. I totally did it. Maybe I was brought up incorrectly or something. They might think about trying it though. I hear it worked for Portillos.

Why would they try it? They make millions off of NOT having it on there

It wouldn't surprise me if they don't re-open though. I was told by the owners nephew last year that they were trying to find a new owner for it but they couldn't find anyone that would be willing to follow their traditions and keep it as is.

FYI- There is a place called Bubby's on Higgins in Elk Grove that is just as good. They have a bigger menu and they let you put ketchup on the dogs. The owners of Bubby's used to work at Gene & Jude's years ago. They are only open for lunch though.

Millions could be billions and trillions and gazillions. You just never know. Portillos has what, like 50 locations that do ridiculous business, and G&J has one. Or at least they should market that a little better instead of just pissing on someone wanting a hot dog with ketchup. Ranch dressing? A1 steak sauce? Soy sauce? That might get a strange look. But ketchup? Come on.

It's their gimmick. They like to think they cater to the hardcore hot dog crowd but in reality people go there because it's damn cheap and good for what you pay. Some people just bring their own ketchup or go "borrow" some from the McDonlalds next door.

Funny thing is someone had some there when I asked. Yeah maybe it is there hook, but I think you are right about the price and food. Sorta like Johnnys too.

That place for sure is making money hand over fist. Its a damn cash only business. There parking lot was in such disrepair for years that it was dangerous to ride a bike through and try to park. Yes i know they just finally repaved it. But generally people are padding the books for taxes and stuff when its a cash only business that pays their employees in half cash half check. They will rebuild for sure.
