Romantic getaway around Chicago

Help! The way everything just settled for me a few minutes ago leaves me only tomorrow to do something romantic with my wife before I leave. By the time she gets off work tomorrow I need to have reservations somewhere around Chicago for a one night romantic getaway. Cost isn't really a concern, within reason. What to do?

*Syphyllis (sybaris) is not an option. I don't feel like walking across a velcro carpet.

A nice room in a nice downtown hotel as high up as possible would be nice on a clear night. Preceed that by a nice dinner on the Terrace (restaurant) which is a little known nook about 5 stories up in the Hilton-Conrad Hotel (Grand and Rush) (no reservation needed, GREAT outdoor atmosphere). Maybe even stay IN the Conrad hotel...

Phil, Galena would be nice, but it's too far. I need something more local. Wife won't be home from work till about 6-6:30 in Joliet. Then we have to be back home by about noon on Saturday to head out to a going away party for me.

I'm going to take a look at Paul's suggestion. She would love something that has a hot tub and/or steamroom.

Don't stay at the Palmer House, 4 star hotel my ass..

I'd check out the new Trump Towers, great views and It's got to be nice. Smit and Wolenski is nice for dinner, then the Buddy Guy's is around the corner from that.

The Trump Towers has some awesome stuff...you can get a side-by-side massage with your sweetie and then relax in one of those infinity tubs next to each other. Mmmmmmm...that would be so nice!

Thanks for the help everybody. I gave my wife a few ideas/options and she chose what I least expected. We are going to stay at the Champagne Lodge. Not my first choice. But she didn't want to stay in the city after working there all week.

I actually liked Paul's idea the best as far as location. I figured a carriage ride and an open air dinner would be the way to go.

This is actually a little cheaper then I thought. Time to run off and get her some kind of gift.

Thanks everyone.

To run off the "High Floor of a hotel" idea of Pauls....

I recommend one of the high suites with the showers with the HUGE lookout windows. Pull back the curtain and That can get VERY interesting!

I mean just an idea of course....

Something along these lines is exactly what I was going to say. A nice suite at the Renaissance or some such, dinner...maybe see if you can get last minute tickets to a show?

The Hard rock Suites do, I know that for sure! Nothing like a view of Michigan Ave. 2-300ft+ up while your "Rub a Dub Dubbin!"

*syphillis is actually pretty nice, we went for our 2nd anny(the 10th) and it was her choice.... I had the same thoughts going into it "is there gonna be a sex swing?" "how many ppl did it in this room already?"... lol, when you think about it no matter WHAT hotel you go to you don't wanna put a blacklight to the sheets, it's just that at "syphillis" you know that that's why ppl go(as well as all those "by the hour" motels... but that's usually for politicians to cheat on their wives)

with that said, the room was clean and it was fun, not sure what you decided on, but I'd also give a vote for the W on the lakefront, amazing view and stunning hotel, but obviously it comes with a $$$price$$$, we did that for our 1yr.

04 F4i... SOLD 4/7/10

91 VR4... bought 12/28/00... a few minor upgrades, SOLD 1/9/10
