Going to Napa Tomorrow

Well, gotta go to 4 Napa Valley wineries for work tomorrow for 3 days, doing some progress reports and a financial analysis on a few solar PV projects going in on the Beringer, Asti, Etude, and Stag's Leap Wineries. I love this job!

There's alot of businesses that are starting to install PV panels now that most states have gone to "net metering" programs. There is a lot of opportunity right now for rebates and incentive programs.

Here's a few links to some info about illinois...

Yeah, I should be going to Hawaii twice for a week each time in november and december to do a third party energy output analysis on a thermal solar system that is being installed at a resort in Kailua-Kona.

Being the only mechanical engineer in this office has it's advatages too, I don't have to give up any of the "cooler" work to the senior mechanicals.

Man, it's nice here, totally different than SoCal. More of a midwest feel with lots of hills and stuff. Hot during the day, very cool in the evening.

I'm out in Tacoma Washington right now working on a solar powered siren system. It's interesting because these are solar only for charging the 24 volt DC battery bank. The batteries actually last longer than AC only or solar / AC combo because the batteries are constantly exercised. They get charged during the day and have no charge at night. I was out here 5 years ago for the initial install and they are just needing new batteries now. A typical AC charging system usually needs new batteries before the 4 year mark because they are constantly hammered with a trickle charger. Nice area to, but i like the midwest better.

Napa Valley is cool. I did a big job a few years back with PG&E on the Diablo Canyon Nuke plant. San Luis Obisbo is a cool place. Bubble Gum Alley is gross.
I'm eating raw Puget sound oysters and drinking an IPA. Yum.

yeah, we have worked a bit with PG&E on some energy conservation stuff on some of their higher demand customers...anyway, I'm in Calistoga tonight...I was at a bar earlier and there were a large number of MILF's...I'm about to head back!!

And yeah grasshopper, the solar recharged batteries are great, they also have solar/micro wind turbine streetlamps now available, wonder if it could be applied to sirens? It's basically a streetlamp with a mini wind turbine mounted above the light and a PV solar panel mounted off to the side as well.

We have 24 volt DC wind generators charging all the Tsunami sirens in Alaska.

I hope you're having fun in Cali. Washington is boring.
