[email protected]$k Me, what do I do?

So the (2) offers that were about to come thru did not - The first was not approved by the Corp Controller and the 2nd is on a hiring freeze now until after '08 - Now mind you, I am okay for a while and all is still good so I am not sweating anything - I have an offer coming in today from a company that does exactly what I just left - Not REALLY what I want to do but it will pay bills and put money in my pocket - I am still in phases 2 and 3 with (2) other companies so I am not about to just sign the offer that is on its way today (confirmed this with the CTO yesterday) - NOW,comes the quandary......

A close friend of mine packed his shit and moved to San Diego 2 yrs ago and is doing VERY well for himself now - He and his girl broke up and he is left with a 5 bdrm 4 bath 3800 sf house 20 mins from downtown San Diego - He was paying the mortgage and is good to do so but is now left with TONS of empty space - He just called and said to cash out all my savings, he will fly here, rent the truck to load the HD, KTM, and tow the VW and drive to SD where I can live rent free till I land a gig out there - I will of course have to pay my mortgage on this crib till I can sell it and have many close friends to choose from as far as realtors go

I am really thinking of getting the fuck out - 90% of my family is still in Cali and would be about 5 hrs North of me - I don't know if I have the kahniggies to just up and jam on a life that I have built over the past 15 yrs here in the City

If you can do it, why not? You only live once.

Go back and be with your family and shit. If you have to move back, then so be it, but my guess is, that growing up out there, you will be happy and fine.

I'm in a similar thought situation, but a little bit different with a lot more strings attached.

If I were in your shoes I wouldn't think twice about it and I would move. This sounds like a great opportunity and it might be just what you need. If you move there and decide it's not your thing then you move back here but at least it was worth a shot.

If you can afford to, keep your condo here until you are sure you want to stay in San Diego. If after a few months you decide you are meant to be in San Diego then put it up for sale. If you decide you belong in Chicago then you have somewhere to come home to.

Sometimes your knight in shining armor is just a retard wrapped in tin foil.

You can always come back.

Can you rent the condo for a while until the market turns around a bit? But, even if you sell it now and take a hit, you will make up for it when you buy something in CA where the values have dropped even further.

If you ain't with us, then it's just bad news.

I'd hate to see you go but the roads alone are enough to make me move.

I've always wanted to live near both the Ocean & Mountains in an area I can ride both sleds & bikes much of the year.

It's not an easy combo to find but Cali's got it. SoCal traffic is bad enough I'd insist on living close to work but the rest is aces.

Renting the condo would be PITA being 2k miles away, but possible.

One thing to keep in mind are the total personality differences between the two cities. I know you are from there and still have friends and family, but just thought I'd throw that out there.

Bug, if you want to sell steel, I could at least forward your resume to my boss. Let me know.

"includes 10 used-car dealers or auto repair shops, 11 liquor stores and bars--two of which advertise lingerie fashion shows and a third billed as a "gentlemen's club"--three cut-rate motels and one trailer park. The squat, brick municipal building is next to a currency exchange and a few steps from an adult video store. The bars open at 10 a.m. and close at 6:30 a.m."

Can you carry the condo mortgage till '09?

If so head back to Cali, dip your toes in the water, and if the water doesn't feel right when the hiring ban is lifted, jet back.

I have emailed a realtor to see if shit is moving in the one bedroom range - I need to replace the HW floors and my kitchen won tons of awards back in 1983 but fuck it, the floors can be done for $1500 to $2000 and the kitchen, well, I'll take the $5k-$8k loss to unload this pad if I could - Either way, I stand to profit nicely from this place as I stole it 5 yrs ago - Also looking at the SD market to see what is open for Sales Jobs in High Tech

It sounds good and I think I would go for it. I know it easier said than done. And it's hard to move and change, even for the better when you are used to something. Good luck either way. At least weather and riding will be better.

Don't know if it is cabin fever from being at the home computer all day, lack of sleep from this past weekend or just the "Hallmark" way of thinking that I have always possessed as the whole "everything happens for a reason" type shit but I am really considering this - My only Achilles is this fucking condo for the fact that:

1. Needs new HW Floors as the windows leaked and ruined them
2. Have a "Special Assessment" coming up end of year to fix the Windows (only like $3K and I can split it into two payments if I want to)
3. Kitchen was outdated when Grunge was popular (I don't cook so I never gave a fuck)

I have a heavy feeling in my chest with excitement and another of worry - FAWK!

I know where ur coming from bug. I grew up here and was in the service and stationed out in central Cali and loved it. Prob was too expensive for me to live there on my own. So I moved back here . It sounds like a good oportunity to get back there and I know I would do it especially with family there

...plus my gf was with me saying "omg slow down, slow down" and I was thinking "Lose annoying squalk box in passenger seat, afford more mods and have less weight in the car and on the back of the bike"...so i dumped her and I'm single again as usual...HERE KITTY KITTY!!!
