Lionel trains

I have a few boxes fulls of Lionel trains from my Dad. Most are from the 70s I think and are still in good condition. Also have tracks, stations, etc for the whole set.

Anyone have any idea how much this stuff is worth or where online I could find a price list?

Also you can do a search for completed listing on Ebay. It's not really what they are worth, but more of what people are willing to pay for them.

you need to locate people who collect those trains and they will give you proper dollar. they can be worth lots of money depending on condition etc.

or....just leave your christmas tree up all year

There's a place in downtown Oswego that sells train stuff. They might be able to help you out.

They do a huge train show at Richard High School in Oak Lawn every year, they have vendors there that buy and sell all kinds of train stuff. That might be a good place to start.

do you have all the original boxes and accessory pieces that came with all of them?

This morning I was at Jack Phelan Dodge getting my Jeep serviced (they were a nice bunch of people. Thanks, guys!) Anyway, next door was a Lionel trains hobby shop. Take your stuff there and see what they say. They're on Ogden Ave. in Berwyn.

I'd also look for a Lionel trains forum and post up.

yeah, most still have the boxes even though they are old and beat up... even the misc stuff like stations, signs, etc. also have a ton of tracks. the only stuff really worth any real coin is a couple of the engines. probably gonna try and sell it as a whole group and see what offers i get.

A good show that I visit once in a while, and my dad goes to every month is in Weaton at the fair grounds. It's usually the second Sunday of every month except July when there is no show.
They got everything there.
Other wise, PM me a list and I'll have my dad look through his books cause he collects all sorts of trains.
All I can offer, is be careful of Hobby Shops wanting to buy everything. I've heard way too many stories of ppl selling this old Lionel stuff for a "good price" only to talk to someone and find out that one piece was worth more than he got for the everything.

Not sure if they do trains but in Joliet there is Leisure Hours Hobby store. You might stop in and ask them. They are mainly RC oriented.

If you are around Chicago's NWside there is a train specific store on Higgins just East of Harlem. I'll get the name/address and post it if you want.

Hang on to that shit Eric, I have a bunch of those sitting in the basement. Track, trains, cars, and cabooses. Pulled them out for a collector 7-8 years ago and got offered a nice chunk and said no. Still have them now. they are worth money depending n what scale they are.

Actually there are people who pay top dollar for old train sets. Especially if they are in good condition and still work.
