I had seen this a while ago, still a very cool idea.

But without the B Pillar wouldn't the structural integrity be lessened?

There isn't any side impact protection.

Still a cool idea.

How do you get in the car if the battery is dead? Looks cool but I don't think that would ever catch on real well. Would be nice to have on the hot summer days for cruising around with the doors open. Looks better than the guys in the cherokee sports and blazers that unbolt the doors and drive around with everything exposed.

Or an overfilled pothole. That would be awesome having that scratch the crap out of the side up and down.

On a Mark VIII nonetheless

the cool part of that is when your in a side impact, the door will be stuck closed and your trapped in a car!

or its raining and you have to have the window roll down and the door open fully letting all that moisture in your car!

Silly Alex, rich people park under awnings and have Valets take their cars.

Wouldn't want it, but I've got to admit it is very cool.

There is nothing firm, nothing balanced, nothing durable in all the universe. Nothing remains in its original state, each day, each hour, each moment, there is change. Change is the essence of life. Embrace change as you do life. To fight change is to live in the past.

Holy old batman!. That was a concept before the Mark VIII was released. One of them was sold on ebay last year.

Curious. Did anyone read the FAQs.

Manual function if power is disabled.
Increases side impact protection.
In the event of side impact, it is easier for emergency crews to open than a std. door.
etc....
Opens and closes faster than standard door, although still will get rain inside.

I find this hard to believe. Seems like they just threw a bunch fancy buzz words together to make people believe:

Quote:
What happens in a serious road accident?

Our doors are stronger and more impact resistant that standard car doors for the following reasons.

Our door integration technology along with our modular cruciform door structure ensure that our door reunites structurally with the body when closed in a way which offers greater resistance to crash impact than a standard door as shown in crash tests performed for us by a major supplier to the automobile manufacturers.
