There was a thread on this thing the other day. I think google is rushing to market with an inferior product and relying too heavily on the aftermarket for apps, instead of bringing out a working suite right off the bat.

Competition for Iphone? sure all phones are, wil it be equal or better? no way, not yet.

If you are looking to be on par with the iphone than no way. Iphone is king, but if you are going to use it to make phone calls and not play games then yes.
I have one on reserve. I wanted a iphone but At&t service sucks and not having a keyboard kind of pushed me away. I've been very happy with T-mobile. So I'm going to give it a chance. I just use my phone to talk and text.

If my calculations are correct, this will create ice... OH NO, KILLER MUSTARD GAS!

I couldn't find anything on the T-Mobile site about this. if I can't synch it with my outlook for get it. A big part of carrying a brick around is using it to know what meetings you're gonna have to blow off and synching your contacts.

I think it synchs with the Google aps like Calendar and address book but I don't use Google for professional appointments and contacts.

The good thing about it is the software is open source and you don't have to pay licensing fee like you do for windows mobile. They are supposed to have an app store like the iphone but your supposed to be able to submit anything. It will be pretty intersting to see how this pans out. I already got rid of my iPhone and will probably get the Sony Xperia.

Really??

I thought battery life is GREAT considering what I do during the day. maybe you need to tweak your settings a bit. /brightness etc.

not happy with the lack of control for sms notification volume. I can barely hear.

I also wish the vibrate was stronger and or longer.

I cant wait for all the other programs they are working on.

well, i'm just using it non-stop all day so i'm not surprised. the GPS is the only thing turned on and I have the brightness set at about 24% only. I'm sure i have to jsut cycle the battery a few times

I think that alone will help, not to mention the qwerty keyboard. I've tried my friend's iTouch, and it's a plain ol' b*tch to try and type with the screen only. Not to mention you don't actually 'feel' when you've typed, making it that much harder

But, free apps and ability to share them is a big selling point, i'd take this over the iPhone any day

whether you like the iPhone or not, there's no arguing that apple revolutionized the handheld communication market with it. look how many phones are trying to be like it (and better perhaps), but the first one of any kind is the benchmark until something else is proven better by the masses. and right now the iPhone is still considered the best overall (but everyone has their own opinion).

and if you had any doubts.......

Anything that doesn't require you to use AT&T is a HUGE plus in my eyes. The only reason why I have not gotten I-phone AT&T service.

apart from the battery, I'm loving the G1. used an iphone for a month in the past and can easily say that this tops it. only thing that the iphone has on it at the moment is exchange support, better 3G coverage, and a much nicer media player.

Just got the G1. I have to say I'm a total Mac guy but this thing is very nice.
The only thing that is lacking is more apps. Hopefully there will be good ones to come.

Haven't tried yet. I think it will though because there wasn't a software cd for it. But I could be totally wrong
