Went down the other night

Like the title says, i went down the other night. I took the bike out for about an hour. When i was turning into my subdivision, i hit some gravel and laid down. I was geared so im pretty much okay. My arm is killing me and i hit my head pretty hard. Bike isn't looking so good, it slid 30 ft into a metal mailbox.

Heres the scene. I was turning left from the right side of the picture. I cut the corner by the street light, and u can see the gravel on the ground there. I didn't see it at all. The bike slid into the metal mail box and i missing it by a foot.

Glad you were geared up and the injuries aren't too bad.

Sucks about the bike, though. Parts are easily replaceable. Skin, not so much.

Check out the custome color wheel!!! It is perfectly matched to road grime and brake dust. Just the way it should be.

Rep sent.

The most importaint question... Did you have fun during your crash? Talk about a rush. I have only had one crash that wasn't fun, that was the last one. All the others were great.

Thanks guys.

Im not gonna lie, the rush was awesome. I just remember going into the turn and then sliding on my side watching my bike 5 feet in front of me. Once i stopped sliding, i saw the bike was still running so i had to jump up and hit the kill switch. After that i fell back down, pulled out my cigs and called a friend. For a while it didn't even feel like it happened and i was really out of it the rest of the night.

Only thing that pissed me off was a good dozen cars passed on the main road until someone stopped. Im sitting next to a bike in pieces and no ahole has the decency to stop. The guy that did help me get the bike back up and made sure i was okay.

A lesson for the newbs, that lid probably saved his life or at least kept him from very serious injury. Glad to hear you're alright, bikes can be replaced (although that was one of the nicest original Hurricanes I've ever seen), you cannot.

afraid i didn't have gloves on, i couldn't find them. Kinda funny how i gave up looking for them cuz i though " i wont need them" lol. And yea, live to ride another day. Like smartdrug said, i defiantly wouldn't be posting this if it wasn't for the helmet. I hit my head pretty damn hard. Enough to knock my sense off with the helmet on. It was a damn nice bike for 20 years old.

good to see your ok for the most part. You got it worse than i did in my first downing. Like everyone else has been saying, gear dose it's job again.

I guess now you have a choice, either get a broom and sweep the intersection, so the gravel isn't an issue for awhile, or learn to take that turn like your on a dirt track

But seriously, i'm glad your ok, heal up quick and get that bike back on the road again soon, lots of riding left this year.

is that a turn onto your street?

Ive broomed the culdesac entrance infront of my house many times, in the past i went as far as sweeping adn a leaf blower for my touring car

now just clean it when its bad and i dont feel like riding thru it to turn around

Gravel sucks. I slid my front tire on a sweeper near my brother' house this weekend at just a normal pace and thought for a second I was going to hit the deck.

Dumping in gravel is never fun, my first bike (current bike as of today) went down with me on it within one hour of taking delivery due to gravel. At least I was wearing a jacket (fasion leather but it was enough) and a helmet, hand got a little bloody though. Faring got scrached up, and clucth lever got bent up. So basically same thing that happened to you.

llama spit - that is all.
