I hate this because I pretty much get trapped (as in now going W unless you go Way South or Way North as I watch the sea of people run down LaSalle - I am going to get coffee, take my ipod and look for hot chicks who may need water as I run with them right back to my place - "No, I got a short cut, just follow me"

If you're stuck in anyways, go out and support them! People out their cheering and holding signs, twizzlers, etc. really help runners finish

Not at mile 4... prolly more like mile 15 or so where most people bonk out or hit the wall. Dots are good too.

I ran with a few packets of runners "gu" safety pinned to my shirt for when i got depleted. But people are out there with gu, sportbeans, orange and banana slices, twizzler bites, dots, shit there was even a table that some people had set up with dixie cups of blue moon at mile 23

I went down and checked out the ass - Some hot chicks run that muthfuggah and spectate as well - Started rappin with this HOT Asian chick who was holding a balloon (great opener she provided me) and as we are chatting and laughing, she pulls out her phone that is ringing and says, "Hi honey, I am at Mile 4, oh, you're at 9, okay I will go to 12 and see you in a bit, love you" then turns to me and says how proud she is of her boyfriend for running this on his own - He shoots and fans to the left Bob!!!! - Failure at it's best!!!! - I smiled and gave the old, "Good for him, I am proud too" - Fucker, I hope he trips!

Why must people mention their boyfriends or girlfriends in the first 2 sentences of a conversation?

I would have been ECSTATIC if that were the case but we were a good 15 mins in - I was a mere 2 mins away form dropping the age old "care to join me for a cup of coffee?"

bright red ( i think thats university of chicago's ) chopper just flew over my head.. very low

Where would they be landing those things to pick people up? Just spacing them randomly around the course and rushing people by ambulance to them then flying out? I know traffic can be a pita during marathons but we have a few level 1 traumas right along the route.. Seems flying people around (flying a distance of a mile or so? ) is just gimmicky.. ... No?

and if enough people are going down that we are in some overflow situation and they need to send them off to further hospitals.. They really need to rethink this marathons min entrance req's... When I went out there I saw a bunch of people who looked to be in much worse condition than I walking...

marathons aren't easy. I know a few people, who just by the looks of it don't seem to be fit for one, but are able to "finish" which is their goal. They run a few long runs.. 10 or 15 miles and think they have "trained" for one of these things. Let's not forget why marathons started, that greek guy who croaked... yeah, exerting yourself for 4 hours can be dangerous, so rather than jogging it, you should run it fast in 2 hours like those guys from Kenya.

Yeah I'll get right on that. I could barely do 7 this morning. I'm hurting right now.

Bascially, if my dog can't run it, I can't run it, because I can't do it without her

Come on. You of all people should know that during these in a vehicle it could take 6 hour to go 2 blocks. Besides it all good practice for the serious accidents on the tolls.

I would agree... but it looks like they thought ahead. They kept routes open ( i live on one of them) They closed Belmont from Clark to Broadway for the marathon.. I live at Orchard (block W of Broadway)

While I was walking my dog they had an ambulance shoot by me.. I sat and chatted with the cop on my block for a bit.. THey kept emergency routes clear for the ambulances to get to the hospital (in this case down to Halsted and then south on halsted 2 blocks to the hospital)

So.. IMHO that seemed like the easiest/best way to go... emergency takeoff/landings for only 1 mile in the city seem dangerous
just my

dont get me wrong.... riding in a helicopter the few times i have done it was one of the coolest things i have ever done....

just doesnt seem the most efficient/effective way in this case

then again, perhaps running 26.2 miles up and down back and forth across the city isnt exactly the most efficient/effective way to get from a to b either....

It could kill you, though that doesn't happen too often. It really is amazing that staying healthy could extend your life meaning it is effective to run around.
