I'm interested to see how the discount works, I'm going to use mine loaded like a regular starbucks card. Hopefully it just lowers the price right when they swipe it and debits off that amount all automatically.

•Gold card. The loyalty card, which costs $25, has been tested in Denver and Vancouver. Holders get 10% off most items, except gift cards and digital downloads. Several thousand free cards already were mailed to the chain's best customers, Schultz says. Each store manager will be given three gold cards to hand out to customers deemed the best.

as been posted its not a credit card, I'd never bother with that. the discount is what I'm after, and since I got mine for free it's totally worth it. "I'm a pretty big deal, people know me."

I understand, I am so addicted to coffee that i will stop at *bucks when I'm out and about. The reality is that it is better or at least more consistent than most independent shops. I'm roasting coffee right now so I feel sorry for you guys that have to suffer through the day with an inferior coffee.

There was a great coffee shop in Perrysburg, Ohio.... it's called the Daily Brew (real original, I know), but the funny part was that it had a boardwalk and a Jamaican theme...... good coffee if you got the right person making it.

I have to agree that at least Starbucks had gotten stream-lined and standardized with the new machines to ensure that the beans aren't over-roasted.

Where is the coffee guy's place anyway? I'm far south, so I'm just happy to have Starbucks.

We are still a bit away from being able to do a complete new shop. For the right location I have a couple of investors interested but we're hesitant to give up much control of the company. If you know of a place that was a restaurant or coffee shop that we could just re-skin and equip it may be something to explore.

How come everytime someone brings up something about starbucks, you gotta make some kind of insult? I know you have your own coffee shop and you have your opinion, but a lot of people do like Starbucks too.

I don't go out for coffee.. (I dont like hot drinks.. they are for skinny cold people... ) I am always hot.. So I like cold drinks..

In any case.. Everyone raves about it being the best place...

Coffeeguy what are some good places for coffee?
including and other than yours... Because I am not driving like 50 miles for a good cup..

So chain-wise.. What are yours and the other peoples recommendations for a good cup? Say... Top 5...
Is Starbucks even on that list?

Also, why would you only offer a sample to the mods? You should probably offer a sample to anyone that asks.. Unless you plan on only selling to the mods ... Don't be elitest.. Spead the brown cocaine around

To be honest I have considered grabbing some from you.. I looked up your shop a while back (before I guess they let you put stuff up.. but I found it through your profile info)... and it looks interesting... That said I think I have 20lbs of Starbucks and another 10lbs of other kinds of coffee still sealed up at my house and aging...

I'm a small voice in the wind against a large corporation. I really don't mean to be too down on the 'bucks. The reality is that before I opened my shop I had a $20 a day habit. For the scale of production that they have they are very good. It really is unreal how much coffee they sell and how well they do it. The reality they created the coffee market without them shops like mine couldn't exist. So just for you thank you Starbucks.

My top coffee not including mine:
Intelligentsia
Metropolis
Altera (Milwaukee)
Ancora (Madison)
The Roasterie (Kansas City)
Dunn Brothers does a good job but they are a franchise and there is some inconsistency between their stores.
Four Beans in Batavia

I guess *bucks doesn't make my list.

I made the free samples offer to the mods because frankly I just can't afford to ship free coffee to everyone who asks. I wish I could. I'll see what I can do about adding sample sizes to the offerings on the website then doing a CLSB discount code.
