FROM STNG WIRE REPORTS
An off-duty Chicago Police officer was killed after losing control of her motorcycle Tuesday afternoon on a residential road in south suburban Matteson.
Andria Randolph, 40, was pronounced dead at St. James Hospital and Health Centers in Olympia Fields at 4:04 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.
Randolph was involved in a motorcycle accident about 3 p.m. near 50 Willow Rd. in Matteson, according to Matteson police Sgt. Michael Black.
She was traveling north on Willow Road when she lost control of her motorcycle, struck a no parking sign and was knocked off her bike, Black said.
The bike came to rest about 200 feet north of where Randolph was discovered lying in a parkway by arriving paramedics, according to Black.
The accident happened in a low-speed-limit residential area and it was not clear how fast Randolph was traveling, Black said Wednesday afternoon.
Randolph, a Chicago Police officer, was off duty at the time, according to police News Affairs Officer Laura Kubiak.
An autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday.
The accident remains under investigation by the South Suburban Major Accident Reconstruction Team.
