scifi time travel question

I always wondered about this about time travel. I'll use the show Voyager(star trek) as an example.

After 50 years later, captain janeway gets her crew home. She decides to go back in time and kill the borg off. And, get voyager into a warmhole to get them back to earth a lot quicker. Since the 50yr older janeway dies in the past. And the younger janeway is now safely home on earth.

Does, janeway in 50 years(when time travel is possible) have to go back in time to save voyager? Or because it already happened, she doesn't?

my issue with time travel is that once you go back, wouldn't you be stuck in an endless loop? How can you move on past the time when you went back in time?

You guys clearly do not have a grasp on string theory and quantum physics. I did my undergraduate work on the subject under Dr. Samuel Becket back in the 90's, let me know if I can help enlighten you in any way.

Ziggy couldnt leap himself out of a paper bag, or he would have been the one pulling historical wool.

The timeline would diverge into two different realities (timelines), each one being just as valid as the other.

Nope the new timeline would take over and merge in accordingly with the old one distorting the original to react to the effects of different decisions made and actions taken in the new timeline.

hence if you went back in time and your mother fell in love with you instead of your father, you would begin to disappear from pictures of yourself. but when you rigted this you would go back to your current time and find you had a badass jacked up toyota pickup in the garage cause your dad was now Don Jonhnson like.

I thought Dr. Becket just had to want to leap home.. he chose to leap and help people out rather than go home.

man u guys got crappy ziggy memories

Sam becket couldn't get home cause they could not lock fully onto him
Ziggy was the computer.

Scotty and dr. McCoy were the ones talking to the metal guy about making translucent aluminum when's they said, "how do we know he didn't inventbit" in the movie "the voyage home" when they go back in time for the whales.

If u alter the time in the past, it will alter the future.

...plus my gf was with me saying "omg slow down, slow down" and I was thinking "Lose annoying squalk box in passenger seat, afford more mods and have less weight in the car and on the back of the bike"...so i dumped her and I'm single again as usual...HERE KITTY KITTY!!!
