and the brakes that stop the saw cost a lot and need to be replaced after it's activated from what I hear. but it's cheaper than trying to replace a finger or three.

That stopping mechanism looks like it does a number on a bunch of moving parts.

What's a finger or two? You have a bunch of 'em. Roger Lee and Troy B do fine .

The good ole table saw, I had a fight with one once. It shaved the skin and fingernail off my right thumb and some skin off of my right finger. table saws don't play nice.. My employee at the time ran over and started looking for my thumb or fingers, he thought for sure they were gone.

don't have my sound working and i missed "ask this old house"

I wonder if theres a potential(sp) of that blade flying in pieces after being stopped like that. Years of use and slam stopped.

years of use on a blade?

blades dont last that long for even the occasional use. the guys who will drop the coin on a table like that will be utilizing it more and thus swapping blades more.

I work at a high school, we have four of those saws. They are really nice saws. I believe a replacement cartridge is $275 (way cheaper than fingers)
