Rider Down - Oak Brook

Was driving to work today; I-88 east bound. I get off on the MidWest Road Exit, a fun but risky turn. Guy in an Aprillia RSV (1000R??) goes by me in the I-Pass lane (going fast but nothing crazy). I get up to the exit, bike is in the guard rail and I don't see the rider. I immediatly pull over, 2 other people had all ready stopped. I run up to the bike, no helmet, body under the guard rail. Not sure who the guy was, not sure if he made it or not. I am no doctor but it didn't look good. IDOT got on scene 10 minutes later and told us to leave. Gave the guy my business card but haven't heard anything or had anyone call me.

Looks like he tried to take the turn starting wide, caught some gravel and the rear went out. There was a patch of tire marks on the outside of the exit lane. The bike was facing into the guard rail with the "top" agianst the guard rail. Almost like a highside but I can't figure out how that could have happened. Rider was still partially on the bike. Not a preaty sight.

Hope and pray for this rider and his family, friends. Like I said, no doctor, but it didn't look promising. I don't want to go into detail, it shook me up this morning and still shakes me up now.

God Speed

(RSV 1000, red and silver. Wearing a black motorcycle jacket, no helmet. Rider looked South American, black hair, gel and slicked back)

Shit.
That sucks... Biker vs guard rail rarely ends well.

I haven't seen anything posted up yet.. I'll take another look.
What time did it happen?

Sounds more like he paniced and hit the rear brake.

Hopefully, he will be ok.

While it can be easily argued that dicussing the cause of an accident we have not witnessed nor seen any video of is pointless, sometimes a discussion that touches on why crashes happen can be helpful to new riders.

If you ain't with us, then it's just bad news.

That might be true, not really sure. There is a lot of debris on the outside of that turn, not to mention the road leading up to it has some bumps and potholes. In any case the outcome was no bueno....I havent seen anything on the news, or by doing a google search.

I checked the local paper sites and google news...
Saw nothing.
I can't imagine it would be up there this fast unless he was famous or he messed up traffic... Sad.. but probably true

Hopefully he made it and moving forward will wear a helmet and ride within his and the roads limits..
