LSD accident at Belmont 11.3.08?

Did anybody see/know about the big accient that happened on LSD northbound just past the Belmont exit/hill? It was bad! 5 bikes on the ground, 2 of them torn up really bad! I exited at Belmont and saw the comotion when exiting. My buddy behind me continued on LSD to Irving Park exit and gave me some more details. Took him 20 minutes to get off at Irving Park. Plenty of commuters stopped to help as it just happened no EMS on the scene yet, although most of the riders I saw were in full gear. I said a few prayers, you should too, just wondering if anyone else had some info on it?

She's finally naked!

There was a accident right at the S curve of LSD at about 10:30 last night, ambulances, fire trucks, and all. A few of his/her buddys pulled up, so I did not stop. Hope that rider is ok

The one I saw was further up north by belmont harbour, seems like this indian summer is making a lot of rider rushing their rides.

I can't help it when newbie riders try to do what I do... the outcome is bad. Ride your own ride peoples!

I'm sure this is just a pipedream but there should either be cheaper closer tracks to the city or much tougher riding requirements. I understand accidents happen, but hasn't there been a lot more deaths this season than others?

Yep, it looks like the same accident I saw last night was the same one where the girl got flung over the rail.

The same people we saw pull into the musuem as we were pulling out One of their own got left behind and crashed going south on the S-curve at 9:45.

Well at the risk of sounding like a smart arse, yes. Only because these idiots that fly around the city, wont take the 2 hour trip. How about by some industrial areas, like McCook or by Midway. I see what you're saying, but this being only my 2nd season, I'm getting sorta spooked lately with all these horrible accidents. I never ride nervous but it just seems worst this season than last season, correct me if I'm wrong hopefully its not like this every year, right?

Worry about your safety and not looking like a pimp and ride your own ride and you will not have any issues.

+1 agreed, and cold pavement = rear slide, found that out at the ravine a few weeks ago. Ride your own ride cannot be said enough!

This time of year there is some serious moisture and dew on the curve. Especially during Indian Summers when the pavement is hot during the day/cold at night and mainly right there because of the proximity to the lake.

After the sun goes down the pavement will get nasty this time of year just about anywhere because of the dew point.

But at the LSD curve you also have so much traffic and lots of road oil and sand to compound the problem.

LSD is fun to ride but mostly for the view which means slow the heck down if your eyes are not on the road. Oh and it's also 45 mph and I think 20 or less posted on a yellow sign there.

I think in this particular case the dew had nothing to do with it. The guy was probably going too fast 2up and ran the corner wide

Too fast for conditions pretty much covers the whole gambit.

Building racetracks will do nothing to stop people from killing themselves on the streets. BTW, Autobahn is 45 minutes away.
