looking for steel I beam

I need a steel I beam for a home project. I called one supplier thats supposibly the largest and got 400 dollars. I know few work at steel plants and want to see if there are other suppliers or contractors that build homes that get them somewhere else.

Im looking for a S type I beam 4 inches wide 8 inches tall .271 inch webbing. And 9 feet long. Id go with a 7 inch tall with a thicker flange if they are still around.

The place I called can only sell it in 14 ft sections so dat sucks.

thanks

Central steel - 18.4lbs/ft - 8" tall - 4.001" wide - .271" web

Liebovich might have something to suit your needs, though Central has the best price on beams.

Go to a scrap yard and ask to walk the yard. They may have something and you wont get a better price.

do you have a way to transport this chunk of steel,

I can put in a request for quote to a couple of my suppliers but dont want to unless you are serious and can get it from them, delivery charges would cost you extra otherwise
