Fox Valley Mall

Has anyone been to Fox Valley lately?

Did you happen to notice the magnitude of ghetto stores? Bling & fur, etc...

Ick. How's the Promenade in comparison? Yorktown?

The right way is not always the popular and easy way. Standing for right when it is unpopular is a true test of moral character

Yorktown is totally small and doesn't have many stores. Bolingbrook doesn't have a lot of stores either. Mostly stuff for the younger crowd. Woodfield is good or Oakbrook if you feel like braving the cold.

Isn't it the freakin' weekend yet???

Well, when one lives in 'Abercrombieville,' everything else will look ghetto.

You are just now noticing this?

Prior, the 'Sears' side was where they were concentrated, and the Marshall Field's (AKA Macy's) side was more snooty. An interesting social past time was to sit in the middle and watch the clientele each stay to their respective 'side' of the mall...

But hey, lease money is all green.

Everyone Exaggerates

We're being taken for a ride... agaaaaaaain.....

Went to the mall last weekend and noticed it. Rent must have gone down.

You are correct, the people watching is great so long as you keep your purse near.

Yorktown does not have a large number of stores in the core of the mall but I like what they've done recently.

Much like SOW or the Promenade at Bolingbrook, Yorktown added a ton of small exterior storefronts that are nicely done & now filled with more niche type shops or restaurants.

woodfield's tax rate makes me prefer oakbrook. Besides, I like being outside despite the cold.

Speaking of Abercrombie, why the FUCK does Woodfield have 3 of them?

Oh, and if you think that place is ghetto, you should come 'round these parts and visit Lincolnwood mall. You'd prolly walk in and walk right the fuck out.

Ford City Mall FTW!!! North Riverside Mall FTW!!

I think it's funny when I hear that things are getting "ghetto" in Naperville/East Aurora. The malls by my house have been shit for years. Thank you CTA. I love your bus lines from the west side. Thats life in the Chicagoland area.

I came here to drink some beer and kick some ass. And it looks like we are all out of beer.

Fox Valley Mall is in Aurora, not Naperville.

I shop online...going to malls pisses me off too much.

Rude, selfish people bashing into you, snagging parking spaces out from under you, cutting in front of you in lines. Cashiers that just don't give a fuck and sales people that are just ticking the hours away and couldn't care less about helping you find what you're looking for. Screaming children and smelly parents.

Blah!

Research online, read a few reviews, price shop till I find a reputable store with a sale on shipping and a good return policy. Click, click and wait for it to be hand delivered to my door while scratching myself through my PJ's and sipping come coffee.

That's FTMFGDW!

I think I was in a KB just last summer. Fox Valley: I remember when that mall opened. It is really run down now. No good stores and the clientele is lower end.

But that's because all the higher class shoppers go elseware. Naperville has a nice little downtown that suffered a lot when the mall opened and for the past 10 years that downtown has been winning the mall shoppers back.

Plus not many people have the patience for the traffic out there. Sort of a victim of it's own success. If you just want to go get one or two things and there are easier places to shop then why go to the mall.

Sears and Penny's are where we used to shop in the 70s. I won't set foot in them now. Sears will be out of business in <10 years if they don't change their mall anchor strategy.

I feel like malls are out of style or at least the existing ones go out of style in 20-30 years. Shoppers change and they need more space and want different stores. The older malls just look tired.

I was at N Riverside earlier this week and it was just sad compared to Old Orchard which isn't that great in the 1st place but at least the shoppers at Old Orchard have all their teeth.

Blah, Blah, Blah

They have had successful standalone tool and appliance centers for years. They just opened a first (I have seen) small strip mall storefront just putside Woodmans in North Aurora (88 and Orchard)
