I know, this shit is turning my stomach. Hind sight is 20/20 but I wish I sold everything 2 yrs ago.
I know that in the long run the market out performs the banks but at this point it is going to take 3+ years to get my shares back where they were. That is some wasted time.

We've lost about 50% of value, on average, in the past 6 months. At the average rate of return of 10% compounded, in an upward market, we are looking at 3-4 years to just break even to where we were last year at this time. So your 3+ year prediction is about right as of today. All of that goes out the window in a depression, of course, but barring that, youshould be making money in under 5 years.

I think it will end up about 40 points today.

Anyone see last nights Nightine? They did a story about how you can bet on the market. Really bet on the market. British bookies will take your wager on if the market goes up or down. You bet $1 that market goes down, and it tanks 200 points, you win $200. Of course, bet wrong and you lose.

So, anyone brave enough to put their money on their prediction?

Two pieces will bring it up on close today:

Bush signing the extension of unemployment (which looks like he will)
Big 3 hearing good news of ANY sort
No more bad reports coming out today

Great Depression had 25% unemployment at times and tons more banks failing. We don't have that. FDR's policies caused it to last ten years.

As for the government raping us...didn't we just have an election?
