Martini Bars?

Anyone know of good martini bars?

I noticed there's one in Wrigleyville called The Pepper Lounge. Anyone ever been there and if so, is there a dress code?

Thanks,

Doc

Doc, I'm not positive, but I think the Pepper Lounge is a gay bar. I am almost sure there was a rainbow sticker over the door when we walked past on our way to High Tops (where you should be going to find drunken loose women )

Leg Room downtown on division has a swanky atmosphere and makes awesome martini's. weekends are crowded, though.

Also check out Soul Kitchen in Wicker Park on Damen/Milwaukee/North. Not a martini bar per say, but they do make an excellent martini, and their food is quite yummy, too.

Red Pepper lounge is a restaurant that has late hours I think that its food is a bit overrated but I haven't been there in about 5 years. No dress code, it's right in Wrigleyville so there's lot's in walking distance. I've heard Harry's Velvet room was cool but I've never been. For full blown pretense you could always go to Green Dolphin Street on Webster at Ashland.

BTW...Metromix? Lucky Strike on Lincoln is a bowling alley

The Clubhouse is 100 yards from Wildfire(both are excellent)....check them both out.

You've also got the Living Room a few miles down the road.

Where's this chic from?

First off, I'm going to the Cub game...so I'm heading up there anyway. Second, if you'd ride more on the street...you might see me more (if I could stop crashing)

She's from Bourbonnais....go figure.

And I just want to make this clear because I know you mfers are thinking it...she is and was not a student of mine and she didn't go to school there when I taught

Bar Celona in Wrigleyville? They make lots of martini's, cool atmosphere.

If they are running the $3 martini special, I'd pass. It's some cheap ass, hangover inducing vodka. I found out the hard way. And that's NOT the way to get a second date

Since most of these joints are in my backyard, and I used to have a drinking problem... here's my review:

Pepper is cool. Dress code is "club-esque" with exceptions for drunken Cubs fans I'm sure. Good time. "trendy".

Clybar is really cool. Quiet. Live Jazz most nights, and really laid back. Great for dates as it doesn't get too crowded.

Grammercy is the "new hotness" as the kids say. Nice place. Upscale. Makes you look like you know people that know people. Bordo's beer garden is next door if you need some air.

Breathe is a dump. Don't go there. Don't ever go there.

Lucky Strike is a bowling alley. Don't get me wrong, it's a really cool bowling alley. But don't go there for the quiet drinks.

Never been to "Le Bar".

Don't forget about the old favorites: Green Dolphin Street is a phenominal place. $$$ though.

Webster Wine Bar is a personal fav. Space to talk, cool atmosphere. Same with 414 Wine bar on Southport.

Last but not least, for the guy that doesn't care how much he spends...there's Pop's for Champagne. You can't fail in that joint. Only problem is the price list. Music is outstanding though, and it's the nicest joint on the Northside.

Good luck!

the best place i've went to has been a place called The Redhead Piano Bar. Its on Ontario in Chicago and they have very good drinks there. Plus the music was pretty good the last time I was there. Although I had way too much to drink so it might have been the liquor telling me that.

Cucina Paradiso in Oak Park is good. It's a restaurant with a great bar. Food is good and the Martinis are excellent.
#708-848-3434 I may be wrong about that.
The atmosphere is perfect for a date.
Excellent live music, not too loud.

How about any Bar Louis I don't go there much but I hear that they have a large martini selection.
