Internet Ethics

One of the biggest changes in the ethics of interaction that I
have seen over the course of my life is the creation of the
Internet, Email and eventually forums.

We all know that the written word doesn’t convey humor or
sarcasm well at times and your actual meanings can be
misconstrued.

Worse than that is the perception that the internet isn’t “real”
and that you can be / do / say whatever you like however you
want and there are no repercussions.

Have you ever said something to someone you wouldn’t say
to them in person….. bet you have.

Has someone ever said something to you that they wouldn’t
say to you in person ….. yep, that too.

It’s sad….. it’s worse than beer goggles….. name calling,
belittling, ignorant or just plain rude behavior…… just
because you are isolated by the internet.

Now here at CLSB we have another problem…. it’s a small world.
We all live in Chicago and are part of the motorcycle community
*and* we all socialize with each other.

I would remind you all of this when you interact with other members
here on CLSB….. We might just get to meet face to face someday and
we wouldn’t want there to be any really bad feelings….. right ?

So show some restraint, a bunch of respect and enjoy the ride.

Life’s too short for all that other B.S.

tom, very well put.

i have said this 1000 times. you seem to make a shorter version of it, thank god for that

and yes i TOTALLY agree.

come on everyone we are your piers, we are your friends or associates even family we are the people you turn too to vent, to help and to look for help.

please use some common sense and respect above all some compassion.

lord knows we all have our bad days, but hey hit the close button at the top right of the screen and come back when you can discuss something civilly and not provoking to stir negative but to bring positive. sometimes its how you do it that creates the most affect for the good for all.

some people do it right, some don't. but making a stew to eat with everyone is better then dropping shit in it and stirring and then running away laughing waiting for the 1st person to get a heaping bowl full

instead be a part of a solution, the world needs more problem solvers then trouble makers.

thread sticky, REP sent tom!

well said!

I couldn't agree more

The right way is not always the popular and easy way. Standing for right when it is unpopular is a true test of moral character

On a lighter note, why are all of your post margins so narrow? And yes I would ask you this in person.

I prefer to manage my own formatting rather than to let the chance
combination of the application and or the viewers screen size / format
choose for me.... i add a few returns to make it look pretty.

Good post, I really think that is one of the reasons I like posting on here is because it is a little more real, the fact lath people ride together and socialize in real life I think add a bit more honesty about things on this forum.

The squat, brick municipal building is next to a currency exchange and a few steps from an adult video store. The bars open at 10 a.m. and close at 6:30 a.m."
