Bozo Memories...

Call me sentimental...

Did anyone catch the Bozo special on Channel 9 earlier? WOW memories. I must admit I got a bit choked up.

Very well done, Bozo is truly classic.

I was one of the lucky kids that actually got on the show circa mid 70's...

Not lucky enough to be picked for the grand prize game tho.

I have an autographed pic of Cookie the Clown and Wizzo that really creeps people out. Then again... Wizzo was creepy in retrospect.

I was one of the cast of thousands twice. Once for both of my little girls. The oldest was picked for the Grand Prize game but was too shy to go over to Bozo. I don't blame her, he looked spooky! That other clown, Whizzo really looked whacked.

Bozo, Gar and Ray....

I was raised around around all three shows...

The original clowns were Bozo, Ollie O Oliver ( Ray Rayner ) and Sandi ( The Hobo ).

Ray Rayner was the morning show ( before school ) and Garfield Goose
was on in the afternoons after school.

Went once in the very late 60's with my mother and sister to see the show.

Waited *years* for the tickets.

Lots of memories there ....

I would practice the grand prize game at home, but mom and pops never took me to see the show. I would have got that Shwinn bicycle for sure...and the cash!

Yea it was a good review they had. Totally kicked ass. Too bad networks don't have shows like that anymore.

My uncle was the lawyer and real life friends of wizzo and cookie. I never got to meet them tho.

...plus my gf was with me saying "omg slow down, slow down" and I was thinking "Lose annoying squalk box in passenger seat, afford more mods and have less weight in the car and on the back of the bike"...so i dumped her and I'm single again as usual...HERE KITTY KITTY!!!

In retrospect, there was alot of adult humor thrown around LOL

Was it just me or did Bozo and friends seen a little on the sauce at times?

I remember being told that Cookie was a confirmed alcoholic so it wouldn't surprise me...

but then again... Drinking on the set was not as taboo back then..

That clip--and don't get me wrong, it's an indisputably classic bit of television--features the second creepiest animation in kidvid history, after Clutch Cargo.

How you found us: some guy at the IBM credit union told me about it

When Wifey and I were out looking for loft buildings.. We looked at this really neat place that painted the backdrop of operas and plays.. 40-50' ceilings, plus the tapestry could roll down into the floor another 20-30' or so.. I have to find the pics of what they were working on (some miami opera house backdrop)

in any case.. when the owner was showing me around the place.. and all the old memorabilia he was just going to let us have if we took the place.. one of the things he had back in there was the original circus ring.. the platform they had bozo on in the beginning.. it was all taken apart.. but he pulled out a few pieces to show us.. Brought back all kinds of memories for me...
the wife said "who's bozo?"
