Talking I think I'm going to get banned...

Not from here, another message board. Iím butting heads with a moderator. I canít even imagine, who in their right mind would make this guy a moderator. He has very little knowledge about bikes, heís riding his first sportbike and thinks he knows it all. The worst thing is, he posts a lot of crap all the time, most of the time it's incorrect information. Gives people bad advice, which is sad since people go to message boards for advice.

I got fed up today and posted this when he responded to someoneís post about a CCT problem:

Dude, I know that you are a moderator and all and I donít want to offend you, but you are giving people really bad advice here. Having never experienced a CCT problem yourself, and obviously not knowing much about it, how can you post this information? :wtf

if a moderator cant debate outside of useing his/her power then that shows the quality of support that board has. I would pm an administrator w/ a complaint if you find he is abuseing his powers.

other then that. debate your heart out, just make sure you always come correct.

being a moderator on a LARGE board is very hard. i was a mod at sportbikes.net / christianforums.com and a few other boards. its gets pretty heavy and stressful.

Here is another thread, itís about ďHondaís reliabilityĒ His first sportbike, a 2000 F4 has 28K on it, I posted that I had a F4 with I sold with 13K, currently have a F4i with 19K and a new 954 with 1K, all very realible HondasÖ.. here is the latest post on the matter:

We are speaking of reliability, NOT durability. Well, I can say that you having experience with only one Honda, which is your FIRST sportbike at that, doesn't make you a good source of how reliable a Honda is either. Some models have more problems than others. Also, reliability is just another word for dependability. Is the machine dependable in the time frame that you use it. I bought a brand new bike in 1999, had it for 6 months, only rode it 2500 miles, and it was not dependable, always problems. If cared for properly and with regular maintenance, most sportbikes can last as long as yours and beyond, that has little to do with Honda, more to do with the owner. Of course, the better the product, the longer it will last without any problems. The most important thing is to compare it to other bikes in the same class, most people have an opinion about Honda's reliability, because they have owned other bikes.

Optimus is right, and I would like to add that some moderators let that little power go to their heads...I guess power does corrupt... but for the most part other moderators will booth that guy out if he was to come and abuse his power. I think debating and stating your point the way you are will get you noticed in a positive way on the board... and if you are banned we can always take over

I don't frequent other boards that much so I really don't care if he bans me. I know that I am opinionated and will pursue an issue if needed, but especially here becasue I do think he is in error.

We'll see how this pans out though, I might just have to complain

I don't think I'm getting banned yet, he posted again to the CCT thread, but did not reply to my post. He just posted more nonsense. He sounds like a nice guy, I just donít think he knows a lot so he shouldnít be offering information.

On the thread that you posted to, I think the only reason he slammed me is because heís jealous, heís still riding his 2000 F4 and Iíve already had two newer bikes since my 2000 F4. Had I kept the F4, I would had still more miles on that bike then him.

How you found us: My psychic advisor told me about it

I thought I got myself banned from another board a few months ago. Car-club related, it's a board I've been on since late 2000. Some thread started about sportbikes (a member was thinking about buying one) and instead of getting honest advice, all he got was a bunch of bashing, "crotch rocket riders are assholes", "those things are death machines", "Buy a Harley, they're safer"... one guy in particular has a habit of fucking up people's posts, and posting BS. So I called him on it. Then he starts acting all childish, and tries to be "cool" by calling me "Bird" (for those who don't know Polish, my last name, Ptak, means bird.) Well, I'd have loved to have gone off on him in Polish, but alas, my Polish is pretty much non-existant. So instead I told him that his "parents should have just left his ass on the boat."

Next thing I know, I can't get to the page, my login doesn't work. Talked to a few friends who are mods on the board... ya, the asshole apparently took offense to my comments, and I was temporarily removed. Not that I cared - getting sick of the board anyways. My status has since been restored - but I noticed that my posts were deleted. Boo hoo.

I just get really offended when people start to stereotype all sportbikers as punks, and all sport bikes as "death machines.?

I agree Anna, he's giving very lously none objective advice, that's not backed up with any references, sources or technical explinations fro whay his opinion is correct.

I personally try to do that whenever possible. It makes for a long post, but lends credibility to the response. Somethign simple like.... i have a Honda with X# of miles and I've experienced X happening.

What a retard! And to ban somone for having for criticising them for bad information.... yes you could consider it a flame.... but you not attacking him, just havign a direct disagreement.

Anna, I pretty much just stick to our MN on that other site, cause well, the rest of the board kind of sucks, I've noticed the caliber of people outside of our MN group is pretty bla, so its par for the course, don't sweat it.

Ya, I'm sick of a LOT of the people over there. I have a few friends, but most of the people piss me off. They're not "car guys"... they just like the IMAGE of being a "car guy". Aside from a small handful that know what they're talking about - most everyone just regurgitates what they hear in magazines, and follows the crowd - buying whatever parts everyone else has, or whatever Speed Inc. sells, rather than buying what's good, or what works. Computer geek that has a good job, never gave a rats ass about cars before, decides he's going to buy a T/A or Z28 and be a "car guy" to be cool.
