Calling From Mexico

I am going to Mexico next week and I am having a hard time finding a calling card where I can call from Mexico to here (so i can talk to my daughter). Anyone else travel outside of the US and call the US?

That would cost too much and besides, I would lose my phone down there.

Verizon doesn't have any. I am hoping they have calling card at the resort, and I called Verizon and it's .99 Cents a minute, so it's not as bad as I thought. I am also going to buy a calling card and have my daughter call me. I just like to have back up plans.

you can find calling cards there, if your going for an extended period of time do what i do.
I haz an unlocked phone and i just buy a sim card with preloaded mins that can be charged up if need be. If you do go this route find out if the sim card provider allows you to use a calling card, then you have a cell with a local number and you can use the calling card from your cell for long talks. I travel the globe and alwyas do this. Trick is to have an unlocked phone.

We'r all good loving people here....aren't we?

To roam in Mexico you need "I-dial" added to your account with Verizon.

"Are there any equipment or service requirements to roam internationally?

If you are going to travel abroad to any CDMA Country follow these steps:

1) Verify you have International Dialing capability on your phone by dialing 611 to reach a Customer Service Representative before leaving the United States.

2) Dial *228 to update your roaming capabilities. "

If you are going to be on a resort then you can either have her call your room or use the internet cafe. If you are going to be in one of the cities, they have internet cafes and phone centers everywhere. I ususally use my phone when I go there. For AT&T it's 99 cents a minute and .50 cents per text. I've tried using a phone card over there and it didn't work.

It's not 1975 anymore. All the cabs are old jettas, not old bugs.

Germany transfered all the air cooled bug machines to VW in Mexico. I believe the last aircooled vw bug made was 2005. 99% of all the taxi cabs are green vw bugs that are new.

Have you been to mexico? I realized they continued to make the air cooled bug for years down there and there are lots, however most of the cabs are not bugs

I don't know what part of Mexico you go to, but I've been everywhere and most cabs are either American or Japanese made.
