There Goes My Car Insurance

So two new reports have come out recently and I don't think my insurance rate is going to be going down anytime soon:

Quote:
Drivers of these vehicles get the most tickets: *

Hummer H2, H3
Scion tC
Scion xB
Mercedes CLK63AMG
Toyota Solara Coupe
Mercedes CLS63AMG
Scion xA
Subaru Outback
Audi A4
Toyota Matrix
http://www.newsday.com/services/news...0,197591.story

And on top of that:

Quote:
Here's some highway safety advice from the insurance industry: Steer clear of anyone driving a Scion tC. This sporty, 161-horsepower coupe from the Toyota-owned youth brand tops a list of vehicles with the highest frequency of collision claims that is, it's the car on the road today most likely to be involved in a crash.

2 speeding tickets for me, but no accidents, so I'm only half to blame

Hmmm....intriguing. If you look at the 10 least ticketed cars, only one foreign car:

Quote:
Jaguar XJ
Chevrolet Suburban
Chevrolet Tahoe
Chevrolet C/K 2500/3500 pickup
Buick Park Avenue
Mazda 6
Buick Ranier SUV
Oldsmobile Silhouette minivan
Buick Lucerne
GMC Sierra C1500 pickup

I guess I'm not sure how this works.

Technically, Mazda is a Japanese company, but Ford owns Mazda (or at least owns enough to dictate parts sharing between Mazda and Ford).

Then on top of that, it's assembled in Michigan.

The Jaguar in the article was made when owned by Ford, but was made in England (I think).

So figure, between those 2, it's really only "1 total" car that's foreign. Figure 1/3 for the Mazda and 2/3 of the Jag.

Ford now owns something along the lines of 11% of Mazda. Enough that they still platform share, not enough for Ford to actually be calling any shots at Mazda anymore.

ford used mazda parts for some of their economy cars back in the 90s. This is true with GM too. GM would use a european or jap engine for their economy cars.

I stay out of the who owns what and who use to own what pissing matches in the automotive field.
