I would expect more of this type of stuff as things get worse in the economy. People can only take so much.

Schaumburg police are searching Woodfield Shopping Center at this hour for possibly one or two people involved in an attempted armed robbery outside, officials said.

Village Manager Ken Fritz said the unsubstantiated report he'd heard was that at least one person had pulled a gun on an armored car driver outside the shopping center before running inside.

No one else was being allowed inside in the center as police conducted the search, but it's as yet unclear if people already inside were being evacuated or forced to remain inside.

Check back for further updates as they become available.

Wow. At least with a bad economy life is going to get exciting. I might just have to start carring my gun for protection.

Schaumburg police were searching for two people, one of whom might have been armed with a gun, who entered Woodfield Shopping Center this morning, a police spokesman said this afternoon.

Since 11:20 a.m., police in the northwest suburb have not received any reports of anyone in the shopping center with a gun, Schaumburg Police Sgt. John Nebl, the police spokesman said, at 1 p.m.

Police had initially received a report from someone in the parking lot who saw two males walk into the mall. According to Nebl, the person who reported seeing these two males said one of them appeared to be carrying a gun.

Police this afternoon were allowing shoppers to leave the mall, but no one was allowed inside while officers search for the two males, Nebl said. He would not release further descriptions of the two.

"We are strictly being precautionary," he said.

first thinking, mall closed due to bad economy.

So is this a real robbery, or someone just "thought" someone had a gun?

People will get over it. Here in IN, people walk into malls all the time with guns. Usually you don't see it, but occasionally they print and you can tell. Couple of local buddies always have a piece on them.

Same thing for all of the other 30+ states that have adopted CCW laws in the last decade or so. IL is in a very small minority of states that are completely backward in this regard.

they have all the good stuff anyway.. robbing one of them is robbing all the people they have robbed before you got to them

not to mention.. who feels guilty for stealing from a theif.. did the world a favor

and the stolen goods have been "laundered" by them

think i just found myself a new business
