FYI about me.

My M.S. has been acting up since last week, and the dr. Wrote me script for iv. solumedrol at 1 gram for 5 days. If I come off like a larger then normal dick, please ignore it. This shit gives me minor mood swings. So I'm gonna be refraining from posting alot or reading the site till at least the weekend. Just wanted to pass it on. Love me hate me. It's all the same. LOL

...plus my gf was with me saying "omg slow down, slow down" and I was thinking "Lose annoying squalk box in passenger seat, afford more mods and have less weight in the car and on the back of the bike"...so i dumped her and I'm single again as usual...HERE KITTY KITTY!!!

That pic fails because he's not wearing a tiara.

I gotta go in less then 2 hours for the next round of roids. The plus side is shitloads of energy, raging boners, and feeling so much better and the abilty to move around easier again.

The down side is it's impossable to sleep because of all the energy. Dr. gave me sleeping pills. Mood swings r not fun. And family always freaked out about me when my symptoms come around. Don't get me wrong because it's a food thing they do, but they get too pressing about wanting to go with me to the hospital, or ask a billion questions all the time and it drives me nuts. LOL. I now they have their best intentions but it can really get annoying QUICK.

Plus side is this is happening now in winter and not during riding season. LOL. Cause when I'm on this stuff, 25mph seems like 50mph and I start talking up a storm and am all jittery and super hyper.

I'm out for now. Thanks for the well wishes eveyone. Talk to you soon.

...plus my gf was with me saying "omg slow down, slow down" and I was thinking "Lose annoying squalk box in passenger seat, afford more mods and have less weight in the car and on the back of the bike"...so i dumped her and I'm single again as usual...HERE KITTY KITTY!!!

My Mom has MS too. Right now it's pretty chilled but it's never fun with what she has to deal with. She is in a scooter most of the time but can walk with a walker for about two minutes or so. Tough disease. She used to be a pretty good athlete and that is the hardest thing for her to deal with. She still works out almost every day and that has helped quite a bit. They have a much better treatment plan in recent years and that should help the younger generation with stopping the advancement of the disease. Hope everything goes well with your round.

It can be a constant thing, or it can come and go. I'm lucky, the doctor says it's in remission. Makes me feel like a cancer patient. I have minor symptoms all the time, and my last big flare was last spring. I don't take daily meds, but do try to watch what I eat. There is some research that says food additives, preservatives, and dyes can cause MS to flare. I have some of the numbness in my hands, and feet, headaches, and my knee has healed for shit due to nerve pain limiting my physical therapy. I was also unable to have a nerve block post-op due to the doctors being affraid I wouldn't respond well to nerve stimulus/manipulation.

It's sucks to have it, but it sucks worse when it flares up.

I don't ride, I cook!

this is on the web page...so its a direct copy/paste...

What is MS?
MS is thought to be an auto-immune disease. With multiple sclerosis, the body’s own defense system attacks myelin, the fatty substance that surrounds and protects the nerve fibers of the brain, optic nerves, and spinal cord (the central nervous system). The damaged myelin may form scar tissue (sclerosis), and often the nerve fiber is also damaged. When any part of the myelin sheath or nerve fiber is damaged or destroyed, nerve impulses to and from the brain are distorted or interrupted.

MS is not a fatal disease. Individuals with MS have near-normal life expectancies. Many people with MS learn to manage their disease and live very fulfilling lives.

What are its symptoms?

tingling
numbness
painful sensations
slurred speech
blurred or double vision
muscle weakness
poor balance
poor coordination
tremors
paralysis (which may be temporary or permanent)
muscle tightness or spasticity
forgetfulness or difficulty concentrating
fatigue
bladder, bowel, or sexual function problems

Multiple sclerosis can also cause mood swings and may make people more susceptible to depression. Symptoms may come and go, appear in any combination, and be mild, moderate, or severe. There are medications and therapies to help with most symptoms. If you or someone you know is experiencing these symptoms, you should talk to a knowledgeable physician.

Who gets multiple sclerosis?
An estimated 400,000 Americans have MS. Most are diagnosed between the ages of 20 and 50 (though MS has been found in young children as well), and about two thirds are women. The disease is more frequently found among people who grew up in colder climates.

Studies indicate that genetic factors make certain individuals susceptible to the disease, but there is no evidence that MS is directly inherited.

What are the general patterns?
MS is an unpredictable disease. Symptoms vary greatly from person to person and vary over time in the same person.

Periods of active MS symptoms are called attacks, exacerbations, or relapses. These can be followed by quiet periods called remissions.

The disease ranges from very mild and intermittent to steadily progressive. Some people have few attacks and little, if any, disability accumulating over time. At diagnosis, most people have a relapsing-remitting course of the disease. This means they have attacks followed by periods of partial or total remission, which may last months or even years. Others experience a progressive disease course with steadily worsening symptoms. The disease may worsen steadily from the onset (primary-progressive MS) or may become progressive after a relapsing-remitting course (secondary-progressive MS).

Because MS affects individuals so differently, it is difficult to make generalizations about potential disability issues. Statistics suggest that 2 out of 3 people with MS remain able to walk over their lifetime, but many of them will need a cane or other assistive device. Some will choose to use a scooter or wheelchair to conserve energy. Others will require a wheelchair to maintain mobility.

The relatively new “disease-modifying” treatments, in use only since the 1990s, may favorably alter this projection.

Is it easily diagnosed?
MS is not always easy to diagnose because symptoms may come and go. In addition, other diseases of the central nervous system have some of the same symptoms. No single neurological or laboratory test can confirm or rule out MS.

Medical imaging, particularly MRI (magnetic resonance imaging), helps to clarify diagnosis. A conclusive or definitive diagnosis requires evidence of multiple patches of scar tissue in different parts of the central nervous system, and evidence of at least 2 separate attacks of the disease.

A definitive diagnosis can take several months, although sometimes it takes years.

for me, it did take years for them to correctly diagnose me...at 30 years old, i lost 75% of the vision in my right eye...and it wasnt fully detected until i was 36...so it was never caught in a good time and the disease kept running its toll on my body...

Can MS be cured?
The answer is no, not yet. The cause and the course of MS are the subject of intensive worldwide research. Over 300 research grants and fellowships are funded by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society each year. Knowledge about MS is growing quickly and many clinical trials are in progress.

if anyone would be interesting in reading more about it into detail, then i suggest going to this website:
