Vortex front stand

I've got a question about front stands. I got a vortex stand from MotoMummy for Christmas and finally had some spare time to put it together. Well, after assembly, I noticed that the top of the stand still seemed like it could pivot a little. So I tried tightening the bolts up a little more and broke both bolts that hold the top and bottom halves of the stand together. My question is would I be able to use any nut/bolt/washer combo to repair this or should I try to get the same style bolts? And, once the bolts are tightened down, should the top half of the stand still be able to pivot at all?

Thanks.
Phil

Depends on the size of the screw. When in doubt just get Grade 5 or Grade 8,

I know that it just seemed too loose to be able to hold the front of the bike so I proceedd to tightened. Then broke.

It's a hinge, it should swing freely.

Also, you need to use a rear stand, before you use the front stand or the bike will fall over.

Call Vortex, get the right bolts, bet they are shouldered and a specific length.
