Feast or Famine

So it's 8AM on saturday and I'm on hour #53 for the week with the bulk of work to complete this weekend on a huge messaging migration. I've only slept about 25 hours all week and skipped half of my meals. Spent over 5.5 hours on the phone yesterday alone (yeay for OCS VoIP).

Yet my girlfriend was just laid off yesterday and spent the day watching HGTV from the couch after nearly a 3 hour round-trip train ride to go into the office just to get canned.

I'm friggen burned out after this week. Hope to stop buy Nellies tonight for a drink or 2 but I don't see myself getting away from the computer for another 36 hours.

I'm sorry, I know working long hours sucks, trust me, I know. But how can you complain about this when so many people on this board either don't have a job or just lost theirs?

And if you're not complaining, then I really missed the point of your thread.

I empathize on the migrations... done too many in my past.. some easy, and some downright brutal in scramble mode when a big provider got their lights turned off

I'm not complaining, as the work I've put in this past year has solidified me at my company and given me countless contacts within the industry in case something does happen. Just basically venting a little bit.

Arch, I swear to God that I was seeing 172 columns in this log file and triple-friggen checked it as it should have totalled 192. Check it with Notepad and Excel. Then on my fourth check (for sanity) it totalled up correctly.

I'm slowly losing my mind....haha

This time of year that's just rubbing salt in the wound.

Unbelievably I'm still working on this project. Every year I miss the NESBA bash due to work and also couldn't make it out to Rick's or the IMS yesterday as well. I've seriously been chained to this computer like 16 hours a day, 7 days a week for 3 weeks straight. The only way I was able to 'sneak out' of my house and drive into the city to get back to my girl's place was to 3G tether my laptop in the car while I had her watch some processes via VPN as I drove.

And then Wednesday while putting out the biggest fire of the project my buddy calls and tells me he broke his [email protected]#$ing foot and our snowboarding trip out west in 2 weeks (which has been my salvation) is probably toast.

Ahh, that felt better.....rant over.
