Sirius - raising rates, I knew it...

SO what's the result of the lack of satelite competition? Higher rates from Sirius AND the free online listening for all membership is now something you have to pay for! So much for better service for the same great price.

I am tired of the commercials they have been putting on there. I had satellite because I wanted to listen to music, not pay for commercials. There are not as many as regular radio and I have noticed it only on certain channels but still aggravating.

If you pay monthly, I think it's 2.00$ a month. For the feed through the Internet it looks to be $3.00 a month as opposed to being part of your membership...

When does this happen? Looks like the online listening is the same as it's always been at the moment.

March 1 I believe. You can lock in today's rates by paying now for your future renewals.

Commercials came from XM as Sirius NEVER Had them - Sucks!

The regular rate isn't going up, the rate for additional radios is.

I only pay for Sirius for Stern. I renewed my radios through the end of his contract. If he re-ups, then I'll sign up again. Otherwise I have no reason to pay for it.

I think I pay like $100.00 a year or some shit thru a VW Promo I got YEARS ago and to me, it is $$ well spent - Almost as Valuable as the $130.00 a year I spend on Equifax Monitoring if that tells ya how much I like my music

There were commercials on sirus when I had them a few years ago before the xm merger. Not every station, but there were ads.

Sirius has always had ads on certain stations (like Howard 100/101) but not most of the music stations. Since the merger I have not heard any commerials on any of the music stations I listen to, even though some of them changed formats slighty (Left of Center was replaced by Sirius XMU).

Also a high-bandwidth internet feed will be added to coincide with the $3 cost, so at least there will be added service with the price-increase.

Current subscribers can lock in their current rates for up to 3 years and be grandfathered in with no cost increases.

A few years ago my wife had XM in her car and I had Sirius. XM was horrible because it was just glorified FM. Sirius had more stations in a wider range of genres with no commercials. Now that they merged, we both cancelled our accounts. Used to listedn to Sirius online... but even that has sucked. You always hear the same pool of songs which gets slowly rotated over a few months. Way to take a good thing and drive it into the ground. Hell even Q101 is better than satellite now, but I'd rather throw on some headphones and listen to my mp3 player.

I have been listening to the metal and rock streams on Last.fm... so far its pretty badass. Free streaming musicks on teh intarwebz = win!

i always debated about getting sat radio...but after the pricing, to basically get the info and music i want, i just said the hell with it...it doesnt make sense to me to pay for shit like that...

...plus my gf was with me saying "omg slow down, slow down" and I was thinking "Lose annoying squalk box in passenger seat, afford more mods and have less weight in the car and on the back of the bike"...so i dumped her and I'm single again as usual...HERE KITTY KITTY!!!

That is what my email said.

Sirius is doing this because 1 person has 5 of his buddies included on his account so they save money.
