Dave13 & Piercedqt78..some disneyland facts!

saw this and thought you guys might like it..

The drawbridge to Sleeping Beautyís Castle really works. Itís been raised only twice: once on opening day, and once in the l980s when Fantasyland reopened.

The crest above the drawbridge is the Disney family crest.

It took only 364 days to build Disneyland.

Main Street represents Waltís home town, Marceline, Missouri, in 1901, the year he was born.

The organ that was in 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea now lives in the ballroom of the Haunted Mansion.

In the early years of the park, the Rivers of America were stocked with catfish and visitors were allowed to fish off the docks of Tom Sawyer Island.

When Disneyland launched its original Submarine Voyage ride, it included Weeki Wachee-type mermaids swimming among the submarines. Hereís a video of them.
saw it on the yahoo main page

We go to Disney World in Orlando. But here's a huge list of Disney facts, including where you can find Walt's head (may he rest in peace).

Bullshit on the organ. There are a few of them, incase they need spare parts. One of them was stored at Property Control, a place only Disney employees and their families can shop. It was removed from PC, and placed in the Haunted Mansion when it was rehabbed last year. Caseys hotdogs, a counter service restataunt in Magic Kingdom Disneyworld is fashioned after his faveorite baseball team, the Chicago Cubs.

**edit my comments about the organ only extend to Disneyworld, not Disneyland. **

My family are all HUGE Disney fans. We (my entire family)took Dave several years ago, against his will. He wanted to go to the Dells. On the second day Dave turns to me and says "when can we come back?" That was in April, we were back without the whole family. It's been at least an annual trip for us since then. There is something there for everyone, and we get to get lost in the "Magic" while we are there.

I haven't been there since 1998, but I recall it being pretty cool. The technology used to run the place was mind-boggling then. I can only imagine it now.

Dave has Kim Possible, and The Nightmare Before Christmas, tattoo'd on him. I have Mickey, Tink, a Pirate tattoo and a voodoo doll inspired by Tia Dalma (bonus points for knowing that one without google)

There is truely something for everyone. Vcook could snob it up at one of Disneys 5 star hotels, the Grand Floridian, Bug could pick up the hawt women in Norway at Epcot, Ken can marvel at the wonderful paintings and other artwork at The Art of Disney, Tony can swagger through Italy in Epcot, wallow through the overpriced Ducati and Ferrari gear, T-leg can hang with the trash at Pop Century, Disneys economy resorts, Mopar can get drunk in Germany, Nick can take a few laps at Disneys circle track, Chills can get a haircut at the Barber shop in Magic Kingdom, and Firebretha can eat his fill at Chef Mickeys, an all you can eat charector buffet. Did I leave anyone out?

Did you do the behind the scenes tour? They have an entire underground city. Laundry, coustumes and garbage are all handled underground. They take things trough utiladoors. Google it, way cool.

Dave is an idiot! The character costumes are processed in the lower city. That way guests don't see them coming in and leaving the park. They are picked up, dropped off and cleaned underground. Regular cast members get their costumes from the costume warehouse located backstage, behing Magic Kingdom.

Mandy forgot that all uniforms are called costumes. What percentage of cast members (employees) are janitorial? 100%. From the lowest person to the CEO, all have janitorial on their job description. Also, any cast member will take a pic for you. We wanted a snap shot of our family taken, and asked a cast member walking by. Later we found out he was the VP of Theme Parks.

Seeing the magic in a childs eyes, makes it worth every penny. The first time she saw Mickey, she was sitting on my shoulders watching the opening of the park. She grabbed my face, and said "it's really him Mommy, it's really him!" I cried like a baby. My baby was getting to experience the magic that my father had shared with me, so many years ago. I have a picture of the first time she saw the castle. Her entire face lit up. She was in awe, totally speechless.

I can still remember being 3 years old, holding my daddy's hand walking down mainstreet. We sat on the curb and split a cinnamon roll. I bet we rode small world 10 times that day.
