Anyone else watch anime?

Just kinda curious, I know we have a vast variety of interests from the members on this site...was wondering if anyone else watches anime...old/new no matter...post what you watch or what not.

Or if you hate them silly cartoons....why?

Personally i watch mostly action or comedy stuff like...
Cowboy Bebop
Ghost in the Shell
Bubblegum Crisis
Full Metal Panic
Hellsing
Elfin Lied
Love Hina
Miyazaki Films
and a ton of other stuff...I strongly stay away from the huge shows that seem to never end (naruto, bleach, ect...)

I've watched some although nothing recent. I really enjoyed these 3
Full Metal Panic (second season was hilarious)
Hellsing (a classic)
Elfin Lied (creepy and cool)

Probably going to watch Black Lagoon next whenever I make time. Although Le Chevalier D'eon. And I still have to finish watching Noir (started like 3 years ago and then didn't finish).

My all time favorite was one about a few girls in a ancient kingdom, traveling throughout (cant remember the title, but don't want to ruin any of the show).

if i may ask, what keeps people interested in shows like naruto, and bleach...i only tend away from them as a rule, because the majority of the "visible" fan base seams mentally incapable of a rational thought. I go to conventions and all the bleach/naruto fans i see are less than 16 y/o and act just plain stupid all the time, so i feared becoming retarded as well, and just never watched them. There are alot of other shows i can waste my time on too I did watch a bit of bleach and it was ok...it was just basically a copy of a show from a few years ago called yu yu hakasu (sp*)

I also read some manga as well, but i'm lazy, and tend to want to veg and watch something over reading it...but even the same series on book can be vastly different in animated form, so both have their benefits i suppose.

Interesting you posted this, I was just about to comment on your Soul Eater avatar.

I'm just getting my upgraded home theater together, and I've been watching Xam'd and Soul Eater in between building the screen and mounting speakers and stuff.

I'm looking for more stuff to try out. I've not watched Anime in years and would love to find a couple really good shows.

Soul eater is fun...its kinda childish at points if you want it to be but lots of older content as well, story line seems fairly solid and its only slated for 52 episodes and its already on 43, so its not going to go on forever.

As for other shows to recommend, it would depend on what you want to watch, or what styles you like. What have you watched and liked so far...maybe I know a few more similar to something you liked.

Well, over the years I've watched and enjoyed Hajime no Ippo, Macross, Kimagure Orange Road, and tons others I can't remember, but those are the ones that come to mind. I'm enjoying Soul Eater and Xam'd now though I agree with you that Soul Eater is a bit kiddie. I enjoy long stories and characters with great depth.

True story. I rented this one laser disc (tells you how long ago it was), of Anime that I'd never seen before...and had a date over that night. The Anime was full of Nazi's and rape machines and all sorts of weirdness...I felt terrible and offered to put in another video...and that's when she jumped me.

Apparently she was very turned on by the Hentai.

Anyone else go to conventions?...like ACEN, that's coming up in May.

I'll be there...probably on the bike. Though I'm trying to get the bike in their auto show...cause they never have any bikes...and bikes are another rather interesting point in Japanese culture.

As for hentai chicks...i've meet a few...some were ok, some were just messed up in the head. in general, i don't watch much of it...cause it really is just like any other anime, just instead of the main characters almost doing something, they actually do it. Most regular anime have enough fan service to appease the majority of the audience.

I have read Death note, and was into it until about vol 10, but by that time i decided to finish anyways with only 12 vols....I would say its a decent read, but i felt as if it punched me in the face as a fan with how it ended. I don't want to spoil anything for others that want to read it so i won't go into details.

tenjou tenge...didn't read any, watched some of the show...it was ok for a fighter type show...i much preferred Ikki Tousen.

anyone that is into thought provoking shows...that require a bit of intelligence to watch should see a show called Ergo Proxy...lots of mythical/religious references, and not just christian. Even the title has meaning if you break it down.
