Have you ever gone apeshit at work?

I did today.

And it would sure help to hear that other people have as well. Because I (1) do not feel any better than I did before my little tirade and (2) I am insanely embarrassed but (3) I feel totally justified and it was looooong overdue.

I believe my opening line was "are you RETARDED?"....and it went downhill from there.

Sure... I usually just leave though. Never gone apeshit per se, but I yell a lot, that's what managers do.

I've quit a few times before, and I handled it in writing expressing my feelings in detail. I have had very good feedback.

Just recently, I was told I can't miss work for my kids. I sent a polite letter of resignation, to which nothing was replied, rather a phone call from a superior asked "what can we do to help you out?"

sometimes ya gotta do it. just make sure it was totally justifiable for the right reasons. "the companies" not your own.

but in that rant your rant will make total sense to anyone of the higher ups.

if not your just being a bitchy employee "the way they will perceive it"

Did that several times. Mixed feelings. However, contrary to popular beliefs, quite often it is not only NOT career damaging, but career enhancing. At the very least it indicates that you care. Also, even if it's negative, an emotional outburst draws people to you, since it shows that you are a person, not another corporate drone.

Aristotle said it best: "Anybody can become angry - that is easy, but to be angry with the right person and to the right degree and at the right time and for the right purpose, and in the right way - that is not within everybody's power and is not easy."

Let me clarify-- this wasn't anyone who works for me or is junior to me. I would NEVER abuse someone that way. This is a guy who has been undermining me for well over a year and I'm really sick of his passive agressive shit. It's one of those "everyone sees it but no one has the cojones to do anything about it" sort of things. And of course, I end up looking bad in the end.

I have.

Imagine that right!?!?! LOL

Perfect example of me doing it was an issue I had been workin on for months and client having issues with their telcom equipment. After finally getting the issues locked down and leaving specific directions on what to do and what to order while I left to go on vacation.

I get back and this so called boss of mine, DIDNT read any of my notes and fucked up the customers connections even further. I ripped her a new ass, ripped into her boss for allowing her to even touch my work when I left specific instructions on who to follow up with it too because she was a coMplete fcking retard and had NO buisness doing her job

I called her out on it. Every day she would come to me asking me the same questions and never take notes. Needless to say, she transfered outta state.

...plus my gf was with me saying "omg slow down, slow down" and I was thinking "Lose annoying squalk box in passenger seat, afford more mods and have less weight in the car and on the back of the bike"...so i dumped her and I'm single again as usual...HERE KITTY KITTY!!!

Well maybe he'll stop undermining you now. Sometimes a good verbal betting is all it takes.

I've had meltdowns before. I once threw my laptop across the room. I got some pretty worried looks after that, and was put on projects instead of answering tech calls. So it all worked out in the end.

Yeppers. I did it once about 2 years ago and it is still talked about to this day. Worked for a company for 4 years (Thanks again Terra ) and for 3 of those years I worked in the most stressful position ever and worked for an ungrateful asshole who didn't see an issue with sales reps telling me that by me not making a deadline on time I was making their children starve (while the sales reps made easily 4-5 times more than me) and I would work easily 60-100 hours every week while being forced to bring my daughter with me before and after her day care closed. I literally had to go to the bathroom and bawl my eyes out a few times a day from all the stress.

Well one day I was not in a good mood and was actually in the middle of pm'ing another member on here when my boss saw it and made some stupid comment about it and I flew off the handle. He pulled me into his office to talk to me about something else plus my attitude just then and I let him have it. The HR manager was called in too and it just so happened that I couldn't stand her and I went off on her too. I let them both have it and went on to tell them both what I thought of them and the stupid job. After about 2 hours of screaming back and forth I just walked out and told them to shove it. I was a single mom who just bought a house and walked out on my only source of income at the time. Lucky for me I ended up with a sweet deal from them but it would have still been worth it without the deal. Everytime I talk to people from that company they bring up how I'm still a legend and they all want to do the same thing.

The funny thing is I do consulting work for them still and I rape them in my fees and they have no choice but to bend over and take it.

Sometimes your knight in shining armor is just a retard wrapped in tin foil.

Sorry to hear about your situation.

I have never lost it at work (not yet, atleast) and it would be frowned upon. All companies I have worked for expect a certain level of professionalism and respect. Plus, I strongly believe in not burning bridges, you never know when you may end up working for/with whom.

Good Luck!

Years ago, when I worked at compusa, we got a new tech dept. mgr. This guy was a total dickhead. Had no people skills, yelled at everyone. We nicknamed him Hitler. Eventually, it got so bad that most of the department either left or transferred to another store.

Apparently things were bad in his life, and he was taking it out on his coworkers. Not at all the right thing to do.

I used to be like this, but, I came to a realization:

Your employer can lay you off for any reason (or for NO reason for that matter).

So, I just figure: Why should I get so emotionally involved over events at work ... especially with retards? Frankly, they ain't worth the trouble.

And don't worry ... the retard will be promoted soon and you won't have to deal with them any more. That's how management works.

Dante: [to Randal] You never go ass-to-mouth!
Randal: [to Dante] Would you grow up!
Becky: [to Dante] OK, I'm only telling you this because we're friends, but sometimes, in the heat of the moment, it's forgivable to go ass-to-mouth.
Randal: [chuckling] Ha! I knew it.

Make sure you learn from it but don't beat yourself up over it. The only thing to get better at is recognizing that it bothers you earlier and take action in a calm manner before it builds up.
