Not in the mainstream media... IL voting on medical cannabis!

The Senate Public Health Committee voted 6-4 on Tuesday in favor of SB 650, Sen. Cullerton's (D-Chicago) medical marijuana bill. The bill now heads to the Senate floor, where a vote is expected in the next two to four weeks.

Illinois could soon become the 12th state to enact effective medical marijuana legislation, but we need your help to make it happen, so please take a moment to contact your senator and urge him or her to vote in favor of SB 650.

As a legal professional, I just want it to be legal so I can file a huge class action against the weed companies and score billions like the tobacco guys did.

A friend of mine is close friends with the guy who defended them...
He didn't do half bad either...

That said he also defended MS.. and .. George Ryan... etc...

I imagine the weed companies will be the tobacco companies.. Don't you think?

Companies are doing this already for the manufacturing of hemp.

Sorry to say but I think it's going to be a while before it's actually legalized, and I think many people would prefer to grow their own than by commercial.

right. just like everyone prefers to grow their own tobacco for cigarettes, brew their own beer, and distill their own booze.

I can't imagine that demand would go up much if it were decriminalized or legalized, but I just wanted to say, they're all private grow operations for the psychoactive pot now, not much would change.

The only commercial growers are the ones producing hemp, the cannabis that has extremely low levels of THC.

That's not as sound an argument as it seems if you were to consider the vast array of genetics available, I'm just going to leave it at that though.

I don't smoke pot.. but.. look how many different kinds of liquor there are...

That's like saying people wouldn't buy beer because there are a # of different brews around...

You'd end up with bud light, bud dry, bud ice, bud sticky icky, bud skunk

Wait, I think we're on the same page here.
Private growers (microbrews) typically all have their own strands(brews)... hence more variety.

Now, we've gone off on a tangent with Rob's ideas!

yep.

But if someone thinks that Billy-Bob or Moon-Unit growing shit in his yard or basement can produce the quality and quantity that major corporation can, you're silly. They've got huge fields, teams of scientists, biological engineers, huge research facilities. The work they've done genetically engineering tobacco is pretty impressive stuff.
Your local hippy may be able to get himself a niche market with his ditch weed, and thats great. But there WILL be big corporations that dominate the market, and I look forward to suing them.
and the little guys too, just because I hate hippies.

There have been some that I know of, but I"m not sure on their disposition.

The tobacco lawsuits would likely be a better fit, anyway.
