Motherfa... Just hit and saw a gooser

God damn these birds. I couldn't stop or swerve without crashing my company truck. Yea it's hurt. Bad. Front right tire to it's ass/legs. It can't walk. It got itsself to the side of road. I have no gloves so I can't help it. Animal control in route. I hope they can help it. Been having a great day till now.

Tractor trailer avoided it and it musts freaked out and started moving back into my lane and as I'm trying to avoid it, musts moved back again to side of road.

No I'm not posting pics. I feel like crap as it is.

...plus my gf was with me saying "omg slow down, slow down" and I was thinking "Lose annoying squalk box in passenger seat, afford more mods and have less weight in the car and on the back of the bike"...so i dumped her and I'm single again as usual...HERE KITTY KITTY!!!

It's an animal ken, and I don't kill things or injure for sport really. I never been hunting but I can shoot targets at 300+ yards our with no prob.

Stupid thing walks across a road when it can fly!!! WTF is up with that?

Ok I am done with this thread but there is a differance with hunting and mercy killing an animal for it's own good when it got hurt severly.

Later.

I know, I have hit a deer badly before and wanted to club it's head to put it out of it's misery, but it is a crime... I was advised against it when I was on my way out the door with a bat.

Just sayin'

No, I hear ya man. But animal control got there quick enough and think it's going to be alright. So they got it now.

It was there one another geese and the 1 wasn't going to let me anywhere near it. That's another reason I didn't get too close to it. And it's an endangered species too which is why i wasn't about to touch it any further. The cops didn't take any Info from me so I'm good in that part.

yes, goose season is over-snow goose season is not. Youd be hard pressed to find someone to give you a ticket for putting a goose out of its misery.

you think theyre going to 'rehab' that goose..you are sadly mistaken

+1 animal control will stick it in a bucket and throw you a ticket for hitting it.

canadian geese are not endangered they are "protected". Legally there isn't much difference you can't fuck with em, but they are not likely to become extinct anymore and therefore were removed from the list. Regardless I hate the fucking things, I probably wouldn't have even slowed down lol.

do you know how many different hunting seasons they have for this protected species you speak of?

They have special seasons in Sept to try and thin the local corporate geese that no longer migrate south because of all of the corporate ponds and golf courses that keep aerators going year round etc. Their numbers are sky rocketing

Resources > Federal Law
Federal Migratory Bird Act of 1918

Canada Geese are protected under the Federal Migratory Bird Act of 1918 . This Act makes it illegal to harm or injure a goose and damage or move its eggs and nest, without a Federal permit. Not complying with the Federal Act can result in fines ranging from $5,000 to $10,000 and this also applies to an untrained dog’s actions..

Although, protection from hunters has proven beneficial in bringing back what was once a dwindling goose population, factors such as climate change and urban sprawl have helped to manifest into a new phenomenon . . . goose residency year round!

Resident Canadian geese are geese which no longer migrate back north. They stay permanently within the same geographical location year round. This growing phenomenon has occurred largely because these geese have found ample food, safety and nesting sites within the nicely manicured lawns and retention ponds that dot our sprawling urban landscape.

Each of these resident Canadian geese will eat 2-3 pounds of grass and deposit approximately 1-2 pounds of (potentially, disease and parasite contaminated) droppings every day. These geese become habituated to people -- live longer, begin reproducing younger and become more aggressive at nesting time than do migratory geese. The resident goose population is nearly doubling in size every five years.
