Hey all Craig here from Chicagoland Auto and Powersports club. Saturday's event is an open house for the public to show everyone the facilities and what's offered with membership. Some of the things we will have to offer will be a full time detailer(cars and bikes), auto lift rental, auto mecahnics for repair and cosultation, in and outdoor storage areas(indoor very limited and you'll be able to wrench on it), auto and motorcycle cosignment sales and we can find and/or help negotiate selling and buying prices as well as arrange shipment if needed, and yours truely will be putting his 18 years of motorcycle repair to work with a full blown shop equipped to do everything from tires and basic maintenance to full engine rebuilds. We are also working on parts and accessory vendors for auto and motorcycle side of things, as well as paint and body experts, tire vendors and who knows what else. Facilites are also going to be available for group outings as we'll have a lounge, and ample outdoor space for any bike shows or club gatherings, etc. After Saturday you'll have to be a member to have access to club ammenities. So everybody swing in Saturday and see what we have to offer and get all the details on site. Hope to see ya all then-Craig

I suppose some welding would be off limits if I were renting shop space?

My neighbor is heading over there right now. Sounds like it's going to be the hang out of the summer. Car and bike clubs are meeting over there. I'll have to check this out sometime.

"includes 10 used-car dealers or auto repair shops, 11 liquor stores and bars--two of which advertise lingerie fashion shows and a third billed as a "gentlemen's club"--three cut-rate motels and one trailer park. The squat, brick municipal building is next to a currency exchange and a few steps from an adult video store. The bars open at 10 a.m. and close at 6:30 a.m."

IMHO I am not flaming anyone, group, style, or rider. I am only talking business here. I am only expressing my opinion.

If you are going to cater to the sportbike crowd, forget about the stunt show and focus on the track racers. Spend the money on a tech day with your mechanics on site providing instruction, racing seminar, or some kind of deal on track tires, etc. The demographic is more likely to pump money into your business and; more importantly, more likely to generate a legitmate clientele that is more widely acceptable across other demographics.

Would you rather sell a stunt cage or a set of sharkskins, full leathers, Alpine boots, slider pucks, woodcraft rear sets and stator cover, etc. Would you rather sell a package of zip ties or have a customer talking about the 7 states he was racing in over the last few months pitching safety, gear, and performance parts? You are selling an image and the image of a track racer means more money for your business.

I do appreciate the input, right now I am mostly concentrating on the repair side of things as it will be quite sometime before I will be able to have the $$ to become a vendor for many of the larger suppliers to supply such parts. As has been discussed on here many times, it is often hard to match or beat the prices people find on the internet, especially at start-up. Having raced in the past myself, I know the costs involved and know everyone is looking for the best deal. With that being said I do plan on trying to get out to a few open practices and would would like to offer a better labor rate to those spending their time and money to do track days. As far as the stunt show goes, it's something that can be done with little space and often draws a crowd as it can be seen and heard with peolple driving by.

Cool, I hope I didn't come off wrong. I really am excited for you guys. I love the idea of different bike and car groups meeting up there at the same time. I really hope it takes off this summer.

On a side note, if you need help with some real sluts to do a bikini or naked bike wash, I'm your man.

Not at all, I hope it brings the communities together, many of us have fast cars and fast bikes...

As far as the girls go, may hit you up on that sometime. Altough the naked one would probably have to be "invite only" as we did have kids out at the first open house, might not go over real well with some parents!!! Maybe we'll have to have a "vip" lounge for that event. lmao
