No frickin way this is real...

No way?! Right?

I just saw a car with this plate parked on my street... It had raised numbers like a real plate...

There is no way this is real

Looks real...
and I imagine having that on there if it wasn't would get him nailed for false and fictitious plates... It was parked at a meter on Belmont.. Which is meter maid central

Yes...It's real...I wasn't aware that they issed them, but it doesn't surprise me...he was a "favorite son" candidate from Illinois after all.

why would you get a plate that is only good for 2 [email protected]#
I'd pay 3x as much for one that was good for twice as long.. just so i didnt have to go through the lines and hassle...

well.. maybe i wouldnt.. but i would pay in advance to have to renew less often

Did Texas or Maine have a GWB plate?
Maybe I just didn't know about this as I have never spent enough time around a new presidents "home" state around inauguration... or.. is this some new thing because Obama is a superstar and Illinois knows how to cash in on anything and everything they possibly can?

Well if the proceeds go to libraries that's good. But I'd be pissed if my face was attached to the ass end of a Kia for even 2 months.

Neither the President nor the state had anything to do with the plate. It was a "special" interest group that designed the plate to commemorate something they felt was special...Probably the historic nature of him being the first African American elected to the office...The plates are then made and issued on a first come first serve basis and are usually limited editions of a certain number and after that number is sold that's it. They are only available for a limited time and can only be displayed for a limited time, usually 60 days. They are issued in addition to, not instead of your regular plates. A.B.A.T.E has one done each year to commeorate Motorcycle Awareness month as I recall. There is an additional fee, but I'm sure the state makes very little on them.

"Dirt is for racing on...Asphalt is for getting there" OR "Flat trackers go in deeper and come out harder... OR (With apologies to General MaCarthur) "Old motorcycle racers never die, they just slip off the groove and fade into the dust!

Who cares as long as the funds go towards the general state revenue budget. If people wanna pay 3x the regular price, let em. I don't care if Kermit the Frog is on the plate as long the state uses the funds appropriately.
