Cool Saturday 3-21 Open House - Stunt show!

My friend was at the new Lake County Powersports on 41 in Gurnee for a battery yesterday and they mentioned that this Saturday is their open house.

I'm not usually a fan of open houses cuz they're obviously put on so that you spend a buck but this one sounds very cool! Free pizza, DJs and tons of displays and a stunt show. A stunt show! This sounds more like a rave than an open house. LOL!

I just checked out there web site and didn't see any info but when I called they confirmed it and said they should have the website updated today. Check it at www.lakecountypowersports.com

I'll be there on Saturday for sure! It will be cool to meet some of you if you stop out!

I don't see anything on their website but I'll definately check out the open house on Saturday! Especially if get to drive a. . .

Ha ha!
This is the same 'Ron & Brians Motorsports' crew that used to be on Grand Ave. in Waukegan for the past twenty years. I applaude them for moving and for bringing in Rich Crothers to manage the business! Libertyville is gone (thank God), Nielsen's is OK and the rest of 'em are kind of average at best. I'll be there around 10am!

Me and the daughter went...

She enjoyed the "stunt show".

I enjoyed the free pizza and wings... Life's fun when it's simple.

I was at Lake County Powersports for an hour around three till four.

New location, one major brand (Yamaha!) and only a handful of used bikes and not the gear selection I was hoping for. . . it was still a fun time!

I was shocked they still were handing out pizza and wings! The stunt show was good but not great but hey, it was free. The kids tried hard and were social before and after their show! EVERY employee seemed really cool and wanted feedback! The chick working the parts counter (Donna?) said "Rome wan't built in a day." She said they're being careful not to overstock with the economy the way it is but they trying to order based on what's asked for!

Massive property for events like this although there seem to be too many rooms inside. It's new and the office guy mentioned they were allready talking about knocking walls down to expand.

Lastly, ask and you shall receive! I got to test ride the Can-Am Spyder ! ! !
I half seriously said "You guys let people test the Spyder?" The saleman asked if I was looking to purchase and I said, "Not for me but my pop was looking at 'em." He then said "Let me get a copy of your license and I'll let you take it for a spin." I was shocked but after five minutes of instruction, off I went!

When I got back the salesman tells me he's gotta make a buck but if my father's serious he'll easily save us over a grand and they don't play the freight and set up games. He said they inncure costs to store them, build them and run a shop but you're talking a few hundred bucks and not thousands the shady shops charge. He then says they offer financing but if we can get a better rate through our bank, do it. Warranties are available and definately not mandatory and they don't play games!

I haven't been this excited to be in a bike shop for over a decade! If these guys are being straight, this place is gonna have my support!

Where's the feedback?

Well, how was the ride on the 3-wheeler? You forgot to post up your feelings. Was on a Brain Cancer ride last year (last in line), and the police were all on those Can-Ams. Slower cornering, but seem to accelerate quite well.

It's tough to give a real review because it was only a twenty minute ride, I'm pretty respectful of machines that aren't mine and I'm not familiar with the Can-Am Spyder. I did get on RT. 41 and full throtle it from first through fourth, shifting without the clutch. . . nice! It's definately not 1000 fast. I think because it's bigger it's comparable to a 600 in acceleration. The weird thing about the Spyder is that when going through a turn you don't really lean, you kind of steer like in car AND if you do it fast enough you can get the inside front wheel off the ground a little! Yikes! It's also kind of odd not to put your feet down at a stop light and the hardest thing for me to adjust too is no front break lever! Unless I've run off the track or it's rainy or there's a loose surface I don't use the rear break much. The Spyder ONLY has a "rear" break/foot pedal lever. It's obviously linked to the front but it's crazy not to have the front lever there. (Kinda like riding your crashed bike back to the pits! ) Still fun to ride and the looks you get from everyone on the road is fun! Don't know if I'd spend my money on one now but I can see a "mature" rider having one. I'm just lucky Lake County Power was cool enough to let me ride it!
