Anyone here using Cricket phone service?

Looks like I could be saving a boat load of money if I switch from verizon. Anyone have cricket? What's the coverage like? Right now I pay $110 a month for verizon with a 18% discount. Cricket is $45 a month for the same thing..

Good luck

Roaming fees will get you so I have heard.

I also wonder about a business that opens in the crappiest areas and have armed guards inside

go time traveler style and go back in time, fuck his grandma, then shoot forward in time and then fuck his mom. Then return back to present state and call him a the product of two incest whores and hes your son and show video of you plowing the both members of his family. .

do your research. I have yet to read anything positive about them. some of the things that i have read:
tons of roaming charges
bad service/no coverage
random charges on the bill

once again it seems like another case of "you get what you pay for"

They are too new to this area. I was talking to one of the contractors doing some tower augments as they are leasing space for their antenna's on existing towers. they are a low budget carriers and their equipment shows it. their coverage is not up to snuff yet either. they have maybe a quarter of the towers the big guys do.

Yeah when I was doing towers they started moving out toward this area. I always wondered why they only had 3 antennas as opposed to 9 or 12 like the rest of the carriers.

I also heard from people who know a lot more about them that they are only good if you are in a certain situation. That would be if you were a student in the city of chicago and need a cheap phone plan. I guess the service is not that great and most of their towers are in the city. If you travel out of state its all roaming.

I had just figured they were a piggieback carrier. Like alltell used to be
Alltell ran on vzn network for years with at better customer service, pricing, and options.

I don't totally buy "you get what you pay for" when it comes to cell service. AT&T is horrible in the city (especially for data) Tmobile is half the cost and mch better. Verizon is about the same cost and twice as good. That said I am really in love with the iPhone. So that's where I am right now. Wife has a shitty storm but she loves verizon so much she won't switch (for her voice quality and coverage are most important. For me it's a neato phone. She is so practical )

primeco was turned into Us cellular.

i wouldn't suggest Cricket. my buddy works for Cricket and i can see that business not lasting long in Illinois. even though they have been around the Us for a long time. they just came to Illinois but it's known that they will do bad here.

+1 for T-Mobile i work for them :-) even before i worked with them i had them for years. but if your bill for verizion is only 110 that i would suggest stay with them because they have the best coverage. and you never lose signal anywhere

Ima Tmo Fo too

If you consider Tmo use their coverage tool to verify their coverage.

cause honestly I dont give a chit about coverage in the middle of montana becauseI dont feel like paying for that, I like paying for the coverage I use hence why I ha been happy with Tmo's solid coverage for me. (on my usage)

What does everyone expect? They just came to the Illinois market. You can't build a good wireless network overnight. And in such a competitive market, they have to start somewhere and that's at the bottom. Out here Cricket is pretty decent. My girlfriend has them, and as far as I know, she hasn't had any problems.

I have to disagree with you on the "you get what you pay for". Yes at&t and Verizon are more money, but I don't have to worry about roaming charges and they will work in most areas. Where do you have issues in the city? I was in Chicago a few days ago and had great coverage and I was worried about it. I have heard T-Mobile is great in they city also. A guy my wife works with has them and loves it, and he said it's the only company that works in his place (he has a condo in downtown Chicago). I have to agree with you on Verizon; the voice quality is very good with them, but some people said we sound better on at&t so I'm not really sure. I think Verizon and at&t are the top 2 IMO, and 1 selling point for at&t was it works in Kentucky where my daughter visits family, Verizon has zero service in that area.

I never saw a point arguing Cell phone companies. No cell phone company will work from coast to coast 100% of the time. Cell company "A" may work better in 1 area while cell company "B" works better in another. So if you fine one that works in the areas that are perfect for you, who is it to say they suck?

I can't see going to Cricket or even Boost Mobile for cell service tho, I just can't see them being that good.

$99.00 a month with Sprint will get you Unlimited EVERYTHING and my Sprint Phone works EVERYWHERE around Chicago and where ever I travel in the US - Not the best for International as AT&T has a lock on that Market - If the US is your primary spot, my Sprint has never let me down

One more vote for tmo.

Though the Boost $50 unlimited everything (except for data) without a contract sounds like a decent deal, if it's got sprints coverage.

What the hell do you have on your plan that you're paying $110 AFTER 18% discount?!?

I have AT&T, my bill usually comes out to 120+, but this guy hooked me up w/ a Home Depot discount and I get like 19 or 20% off the bill, lol.

As for Cricket stay away from them for awhile in IL. Their plans have good pricing, but the phones blow and I'm sure the coverage is horrible at the moment.

I have AT & T. $135 for 850 minutes, 3 phones, unlimited text for all 3, and one data package for my I-phone. I am extremely happy with their service.

I have had several friends that switched from Verizon to AT & T due to poor reception.

I would never trust cricket or boost. I depend on my cell too much to have inadequate service. It is basically my only phone and line to the outside.

Thanks guys this is exactly what I figured. I'm not switching anywhere, I've had primeco, at&t, sprint, nextel, cingular and they are all horrible compared to vorizon. Vorizon is just expensive, but I'll pay the additional money for excellent service (and customer service).
