Retiring from riding

After getting hit by a cab last year and breaking my wrist at jennings this past weekend, I've decided to hang up my gear.

It was the last session saturday, the bike wobbled as I was setting up for a turn. I stood it up and tried riding it off, but it bucked me off. Then, it kept ghost riding and fell on it's side after it slowed itself down.

I'm sorry to hear this Glenn but it doesn't surprise me. I know how much it fucks up your life to be injured, especially with your job.

I'm sorry to hear you broke your wrist too.

Damn Glenn! I'm sorry to hear about last weekend. I hope you heal up quickly. I don't blame you for taking a break (no pun intended ); maybe after a few months you'll be ready to ride again.

Never a bad time to climb... unless the weather is really horrible, and then you climb inside!

That is a good chunk of time. How many times have you crashed before these two times? Maybe this is just a couple of very unlucky incidents. I don't know because I have never been hurt that bad before. A few broken bones, but nothing like you have been through.

Jennings is notorious for ghost riding bikes. Something about that place..... Did the same thing to me once, broke my hand and nasty ankle sprain. I'm too much of an addict and a knucklehead to quit and was out again next session.
You're prolly on to something though.... motorcycles are dangerous. My body has a number of things that'll never heal because of them, and my bank account has taken its lumps too. My fiancé reminds me of this all the time. Getting out would be the smart, logical thing.

Sorry to hear you're getting out of the game. Heal up quick.

Sorry to hear about your off Glenn! Whatever you decide to do, don't be a stranger.

Eva has been talking about this lately too. After having a rough season last year, she's just not comfortable on the bike right now. I'll stand behind her 100% regardless of which way things go, but getting hurt sucks. It does make you evaluate things a bit.

Sorry to hear.

Some of my buddies went through a bad streak of crashing back in college and it was almost enough for me to hang it all up. I'd imagine I would do the same as you if I were in your shoes. It definitely did open up my eyes though and I changed my riding style because of it.

Sorry about your injury and I hope you heal up quick.

What part about the relationship between motorcycles, danger and getting hurt don't you understand? Or didn't you understand?

How much for the SV? Is that the bike you crashed? If so... As it stands in crashed condition.

I'm well aware of the danger, just never experienced it like this before. There is a fine line between understanding and experiencing.

I crashed my 600rr. SV is in good shape. I still have to decide on selling prices.

I can assure you, I (like many others on the board) have been privy first hand to the potential for injuries on two wheels. Try not to think much about it while you're on the mend and sort things out when you're healthy. Take this time to focus on getting better.

A broken wrist does suck and takes a long time to heal but that's nothing compared to what Rob has been through. How did that semi truck wheel feel when it ran over your skull Rob? Jeeesh. If anything would make someone quit that would be it. Actually, WTF is wrong with you man?

I don't remember the truck, just coming off the morphine. Ugggghhhh.

The closest I ever got to quitting was after that flattrack crash when I had to get 400cc's of fluid taken out of my knee and sit in the hospital for 5 days getting pumped full of anti-biotics for the staph infection. I had plans all made in my head to get rid of all the bikes. See how long that lasted
