Napa Valley - info request

Anyone frequent Napa Valley? We are planning our honey moon in June in Napa Valley and are looking for suggestions for restaurants, wineries to visit, golf courses to play, other sites to visit?

Thanks.

I think Sterling is the one with the chair lift to the top of the hilltop where the tastings are. Good views of the valley.

Cakebread is my favorite vineyard for wine, but it is nothing really fancy.

Rutherford might be one that advertises tours of their "wines caves". That was a joke. Don't waste your time.

The Hakusan brewery has a beautiful garden and some pretty decent sake, if you like that kind of stuff.

Thanks Hunny, how long did you guys spend there? We are thinking of five nights, is that enough to get a feel of the place?

No, to me it's not .... we were there I think for 5-6 nights and only visited a fraction of what was there. When I go back I would like to go for 7 or more nights.
Only because you're only going to be in the valley, and there is soooo much more outside the valley. Just to drive in the mountains for a day would be awesome and visit all the winery's there.

Also.. i would recommend going when the grapes are in harvest. You get more experience, we actually got to taste the grapes off the vines. Saw how they made the wine, the corking process and everything. Plus it's not as hot there during that time

Make sure you rent a limo....a DUI would really ruin your vacation and they are quite common in the valley.

+1 to Hunny's recommendations.

Sounds like we will be making return trips then. We are hoping to make this a relaxing low key time away with a couple tours and couple rounds of golf mixed in.

Actually when we were there.. I don't think I saw but like 2 cops the whole time. It was something that was on my mind as well.. and I don't even think I saw a taxi while I was there? Huh.. we just rented a car. After the wine tastings would drink water in the car. Still got pretty buzzed, but never drunk.

If you get a car, you can always stay on the outside of the valley and just drive in everyday.. anything inside the valley is going to be expensive. I would recommend doing that.
