Parking Meter Vandalism

Saw this on the news last night...great stuff. Funny, because I was just thinking yesterday that it won't be long before people start smashing the red light cameras too!

So who pays for the repairs to the parking meters? The city or the company that bought the contract?

EDIT: I guess I could actually read the article

Quote:
LAZ now has 30 people assigned to meter maintenance and is paying the salaries of city mechanics to supplement the repair effort for the next two weeks. A 23-employee collection team is being beefed up to 30. And inspection teams are checking every one of the 36,000 meters to make certain they post the proper rates and hours of operation.

I'm sure that was the point, as far Daley was concerned.

I think it'll be great when t red light cameras are taken out. About time sheeple fought back against getting nickled and dimed at every turn. (lame pun intended)

saw people boycotting them in the suntimes yesterday.

I felt bad for the people in the article that need to make doctor visits. You need 20 dollars worth of quarters because you never know how long the wait is in the doctors office.

Anyone want to borrow my sawzall and go nuts?

They said, this might cost Daley the election now.

That's what I figured would be happening considering the economy and that those meters are so stuffed with quarters that they can take any more.

They are surprisingly hard to get open, especially if you don't have a way to cut through very thick metal.

I may or may not know that they won't even bust after repeated launches out a third story window onto concrete

Makes me sick! But it wont last cause there will be less people using them and they are already talking about hiring more people to maintain the meters that no one will be using. Who the fuck wants to sit and stick 28 quarters in a meter for an hour of parking? Plus there going to spending alot of money repairing the vandaled meters. I hope they lose there asss on this one.

I'm sure I'll get blasted for this, but whatever.

People complain about the meters, red light tickets, and other ways the city "nickels and dimes" us.

Then people also complain about how potholes are not fixed, roads are in bad shape, traffic lights don't work properly, and asshats run red lights and almost kill us bikers.

Logical consistency please!

they are scary strong (i think they claim they can lift 100lbs each.. I don't know about that... but.. maybe)

think they'd do the trick?
