HDTony.... Damn glad to meet you!

This seems like a strange place to say thanks.. but I guess it's a bit of an advertisement of a job well done so far.

Funny thing is as I was coming back from lunch with Wife I told her I was meeting him here... She asked me if I was going to introduce him as his name or as Bug?

kind of interesting to finally put a face to one of you clsb peeps
Al is a pretty awesome guy.. It's actually kind of amusing he talked so much today.. He is very calm cool collected and always serious (except for like that 1% of the time he is not.. which makes that 1% of the time 10% as funny) -- Normally I am/was the cowboy "fuckit lets just try it" guy and he was always the test everything 11x then do it once..
Anymore... It's just "do it" I think he is frustrated with cut cut cut cut

We actually go back about 10 years.. He used to be head of IT for SOM and I was the network manager... up until about 5 years ago.. I went banking and he went to where we are now...
Funny thing is.. Last April with no job and no prospects we picked up and went to Fiji for a few weeks... No cell phones no nothing..
I told Connie.. Embrace unemployment and murphys law will take it away..
We landed in LAX on the way back home.. I checked my voicemail and there was one from Al asking if I knew anyone or was looking myself.. I started less than a month later

I didn't know what to expect walking into this ... and I think he took the meeting this late on just to appease me, but he walked out of it really excited and I ended up spending most of the rest of the day picking that thing apart and sending him the rundown of what it was, how it worked and how it'd fit..

Oddly enough I did end up on the phone with the Sr CCIE type (i think CTO) of that other company for about 45 minutes... The call started with us most likely needing a 7800 class router and ended with us not needing a router... Doing first hop with ASA or Forti.. I am supposed to talk with the account rep and the brain tomorrow.. We'll see how that goes... (the reps (especially the last one) are why the whole thing stalled and was going nowhere.. To be honest I like the guys I known there.. But that's neither here nor there.. We have been trying to get this crap to go for almost 3 months and I think we accomplished about as much today as we did in 3 months with them.

oh and about the receptionist ... I wouldnt be so sure.. Even if its there.. I bet it's taped back

Skidmore.. Yeah.. Ric..
You know that Tim guy I mentioned... Guy who would randomly turn things off in the middle of the day (proxy)... He is Ric's boss
I actually stopped in there a few weeks ago with the baby to introduce her to the old crowd and take pictures of her acting like she was climbing the Burj Dubai tower (the model is like 8' tall)

Oh and I gave your card to the temp receptionist.. He said he loves Toto too!

give me a minute.. I'll email you something funny.

Not to use the "she was wearing a short skirt so she was asking for it" defense...

but seriously.. who wears a pink shirt to a place with a male receptionist temping? He should have saw that and bolted back out the car and changed into some flannel... It's not like he didn't sneak around and check out the office first.. Girl who sits by me told me he came in through the back door

Incidentally the receptionists before mantemp were both quite cute.. but one moved to a difft dept and the other got laid off
