Plainfield home owners?

Where are the decent neighborhoods? I'm looking to buy a house in the next 2-3 months and I've found a LOT of really nice homes in the area of canton farms rd/59. How is this area? Any plainfield cops here? What are your taxes like? Thanks in advance

first of all it's Caton (no N)

I live just west of there in Wesmere Country club. Taxes are awesome as we are part of Joliet township, which means we get Joliet tax's but plainfield address and schools. best of both worlds.

go a few blocks north and the taxes are easily 30% higher

unfortunately that's not an option...

Originally I was planning on buying in the garfield ridge area (midway) of chicago by my brother but for my price range (250ish) I can afford a raised ranch that needs updating that's around 1300sq ft.

Plainfield for the same price range I can get a 4bed 3bath, over 2000 sq ft with a master bed/bath etc etc

+1... joliet township with joliet addess but plainfield schools, etc. the new construction prices in the area have plummeted and you can get a lot of house if you want it. drive down caton farm, theodore, black, ridge, county line, drauden and make a day of walking through s and comparing.

The closer you get to downtown the higher the taxes. Around Caton and west of 59, not too bad. If you want to save a few bucks, just travel a little bit farther south and look in Shorewood. Taxes are a wee bit cheaper but the housing is less expensive for the same type of house.

I live in North Plainfield and I like it better because its closer to work for me and I border Naprville. Sure the taxes are higher, but in some areas of North Plainfield you also get Naperville schools.

If you get set up in the MLS system, you can see what taxes are like... obviously you aren't, and should.

shit my taxes are more here then they were in ORLAND PARK!

as noted there is so many fucken school that are being built when i dont even have kids its INSANE!

did i mention vinyl waste land, how about god knows how many foreclosed or homes in foreclose fucking up EVERYONE'S home values mine included!

i wont be able to get what i paid or maybe what this house was worth 2 years ago, unless i let my house foreclose and be a another hold my hand hand out and modify my load, or my house some hows burns down or i wait 20 years!

most of all with all the empty land that builders stopped building on?

this is the LAST place you wanna be in my opinion, oh and i bet its only a matter of time before they yank that "what? 10 bucks? a month" credit from our water bill, since casinos are not making much, and that one had a fire.

Luckily no foreclosed homes in my subdivision, but there are a ton in Naperville and I'm sure all over the place.

I've been pretty happy living here the last 2 years. Yes, there are a lot of foreclosures and property values have dropped a lot but the same thing is happening elsewhere as well.

Caution to how far west you look in that area. A land fill was approved in South Yorkville. Not sure of status for it now, but this can affect the areas around it a lot.

yup, we've dropped a lot less than some other areas, mainly cause this area didnt get as pumped up unreasonably as some of the areas closer to chicago.

Pretty sure. There aren't any abandoned homes that I know of, but I could be wrong. The one thing that helps us out in my area is that our homes were pretty cheap to start with whereas most of the foreclosures in our area come from the more expensive homes in the $400K+ range.

my ex lives out there and i saw there's. the thing is huge, twice the size of their mower. can't say much for living there but been out that way on a weekly basis for the past few years. not a bad place but some of the homes have paper thin walls. guess that's anywhere nowadays though.

Most homes in foreclosure aren't abandoned. Most people who cant afford to pay or chose not to for whatever reason will stay in the home until they are actually forced out, which usually takes the court system a good amount of time.
