Netflix Raised their Rate.

3 Bluray movies now going to be $20 a month. I do about 3 movies a week I think that is cheaper than Hollywood.

Thoughts

$9.99 1 out at a time is more than enough for us. See a doctor.

I've had Netflix for years and i absolutely LOVE it. When they started the Blu-Ray deal i was all over it but a few times i received disks that were "unreadable". I looked at them and sure there was wear and tear from use so i reported it and they immediately sent out a new one. GREAT! Well then they wanted $1 surcharge to keep getting blu-ray discs. No sweat--Whats a buck ya know? All of a sudden it seems like every 2 or 3 discs are bad and wont play. I asked a few of my friends and they are saying the same damn thing! Well i check my email and sure enough-- Netflix wants an additional $4 bucks from me to keep my blu-ray service. Its one thing to raise the rates which i surely understand but when you are waiting for that new blu-ray movie and it comes on Friday (Family Movie Night) and it does not work i say SCREW IT! I cancelled the blu-ray extra and will gladly watched the upscaled version of the regular DVD.

Are the Blu-Ray disc that fragile? Just dont seem right!

I've never had a BD read error from Netflix and I've rented some titles I expected problems with like Superbad. Maybe it's your player. Some older players have 1st gen laser arms which cause them to have read errors. Not sure if that applies to you though.

And for the record: The way I read the Netflix announcement is that they plan to use the extra revenue to INCREASE the number of titles available in BD format.

I admit it's a steep cost to pass to the consumer but I'm hoping that a year from now a majority of my movies will be available in BD. I can hardly watch standard DVD anymore.

I've got the 3 movie package too. I think its still worth it after the increase but I am too noticing more movies skipping and not wanting to play. Last one was righteous kill blue ray and it skipped around like crazy, no scratches on disk, annoying as f**k though. I play mine on ps3 and its up to date.

I've never had a problem playing any of their BR disc either. The BR disc is supposed to be scratch resistant but other things can still damage it.

I think I'm going to cancel netflix. I hate being nickle and dimed and with summer coming up, I'll probably rent less movies.

No contract, no problem. If I didn't have 2 kids under 3yrs that keep me tied to the house I'd do the same thing every summer.
