Oakley Industrial Grade/Mil Spec

Wondering if anyone on here has acces to purchase from this program and has pricing. Looking for a stupidly over priced pair of glasses for no good reason.

My sister and brother in law work for the company that owns them. It's about a long a shot as it gets, but I'll ask tommorow.

Oakley Polarized eyewear is the toughest in the business. The materials and geometry we use in our lenses and frames pass all American National Standards Institute impact testing requirements, which is the industrial standard for high-mass and high-velocity impact testing (ANSI Z87.1.)
High-Mass Impact Diagram
High-Mass Impact Test

In the High-Mass Impact Test, the lens is struck by a 500 gram (1 pound, 1.6 oz.) metal spike dropped from 51.2 inches (4 feet, 3.2 inches). To pass the test, no frame parts or lens fragments may be ejected during impact.

High-Mass Impact Demos
High-Velocity Impact Diagram
High-Velocity Test

For the High-Velocity Impact Test, a pneumatic cannon shoots a quarter-inch steel shot at 102 miles per hour (156 kmph) at the lens. The test is conducted from three different distances and seven different angles. To pass, the lens cannot flex enough to reach the eye, nor can any frame parts or lens fragments be ejected.

Are they otherwise the same glasses/gear?

There are a lot of similar looking glasses on the site for military and goverment officials, see if you can find them on here, and I can order them for you.

https://secure.usstandardissue.com/P...tail.cfm?id=69

lol I dont' have cash to just order them, so I'll definitely let you know the price and work out the payment and what not. I faxed them my military ID for confirmation during the registration, so it should get approved tomorrow. Once they do that, I'll see how much it is and give you a heads up.

all oakley lenses pass those test, not just miLgrade.

also, come by the shop and we will order a custom set, with whatever lens color and frame color available.

some of the unique colors, emblems and lenses, and the combination of the above.

for instance, most if not all the frames in Mil Spec are flat/matte black, and some of the civilian frames arent available in matte black. im pretty positive we have a set of the matte Canteens in our display case. im not sure about the lenses or emblems, but im 90% i saw them the other day when i was trying on glasses.

also, if you go to the custom part of oakley's site, you'll see the prices are the same as the standard that you dont get to pick the colors.

ive never seen a mil spec pair, but id imagine they are marked with that as well.

Well, the pair I want are not listed in the custom section, and show as discontinued and can't be ordered on the regular site.

i dont have the ones listed buy my oakleys are the shit. i had to have a perscription added to the lenses so they were kinda pricey but they are worth their weight in gold. the lenses on them really do improve the clarity and depth perception. i have a couple small chips in one of the lenses but that is from small rocks at high speeds so i cant imagine what would have happened with a cheap pair of sunglasses. i am thinking about getting a clear pair to wear when the sun goes down i love them so much. i think mine are the "fives", i got them a couple years ago they kinda look like the "gascans"

Any military or LEO can get on the Oakley discount program. I bought by boots and glasses from them. Once they get your information, they'll send you a catalog of products that they offer with the discount.

I remember at one point reading about the stuff oakley does for military. Specifically they were talking about the boots and how they'd receive feedback from the soldiers that basically amounted to "I was sneaking up on a bad guy and this part squeeked, can you fix it?"

They were the most comfortable boots I've ever owned. They lasted my whole 16 month tour.

The newer ones are more heavy duty than the previous boots.
