Anyone install clear film protection?

I have special plastic covers that require careful installation to be perfect. It's clear and sticks to the bike, kind of like the protective film on a cell phone. Anyone know any installers? I have the film, but need a pro to get it installed just right on a couple of my bikes.

Thanks.

Paul, I still know how to do this, even though I don't make a living doing it anymore, in fact just did our new Jeep Liberty a couple weeks ago, I'm a little slower than I use to be, but I can still do it. I'm gone during the week though, so would have to be on the weekend,

What are you talking about anyway to do?

Mine is 3M clear film cut to the dimensions of the tank. I want it there so that the tank bag doesn't rub the paint.

yeah for sure put those on. anything that helps save the paint. its good and those thicker or thinner 3M panels are the way to go. or anything for that matter along the lines of protection. believe it or not i rather see people protect there bikes then have to paint them.

there are a few different ones out there though, I'd stay away from the static cling ones, you need something self adhesive 3M 8 mil PPF is the best there is, it holds up the best, you can do more with it and will hold a shine alot longer than any other brand of film out there.

Not to mention something without him knowing, but Chills Porsche has 3M film on it and it still shines (well it did when I saw it last year) I have seen cars with other film that turns dull and a different color with in a year of being installed

super easy to do the 3m stuff. http://www.thetankslapper.com/buy.html
I've done it to both my newer bikes and hasn't moved..
If your doing a dark colored bike you need to put a strip of the soft side of Velcro on the lip of you squeegee.

You want the 3m stuff, the cheaper slapper film sucks...

I know a better method!!!

Buy three cans of flat black spray paint. Use two cans to apply an even coat over the body panels (I recommend taking the body panels off first) and save the third for repairing rock chips and crash damage.

$15 and some elbow grease is all you need.

How would it handle the bends and curves of a bike? Do you heat it to help it stretch and bend?

every bike is different and it would all depends on what you want done, group buy would only work if several people had the same bike.

go to www.xpel.com and see if there is a kit available for your bike. Now this will suprise the shit out of most of you, but the amount of material that is used and the labor time that is involved for a bike make this almost just as expensive as getting a car done. Don't want to scare anyone off...but it is the truth

and minimal heat is used, but not really, the material is designed to strech about 125% and has a 95% retractability, but if you don't know what you are doing you are going to really screw it up, trust me it takes 6-9 months for a person to get good at this, every vehicle is a little different everytime you do it

just want to point out that the self adhesive is not reuseable, as stated on this site

similar to removing window tint except use some heat (hair dryer, you will burn your paint with a heat gun) and lots of goo gone and a little bit of time (full hood on a Ferrari F430 took 2 people about an hour to remove)
